“Huh?” His voice barely carries out in the cold like this. She’s all bundled up out here and so is he. Both of them are standing in line for some stupid thing that came out and he honestly only half remembers what exactly it is that they’re waiting for. Either way, it’s cold, their bitter, and if this damn music doesn’t stop he’s pretty sure she’ll be making it even colder. How many times does Jingle Bell Rock have to play before someone realizes it’s a terrible song and stops it, anyway? At least he’s got someone he can half talk to. It’s just unfortunate that it’s the ice witch.

“Yeah? Same.” His voice is barely a whisper and the snow is practically eating it when he talks. His scarf isn’t helping either. “It’s cold as a bitch and I can’t feel my nose. Plus everyone in this line’s talking shit for no reason or whining about plans.” He rolls his eyes now before removing his glasses and doing his best to get the snow off of them. Why does the line have to extend all the way out the door anyway?  Why can’t they just let people wait inside?!

Seulgi was bored.

And what better remedy to her boredom than say... playing with a cute little mutant from the foundation? Seulgi gave a deranged giggle as she scooped some snow up into snowballs, and begun to throw them at unsuspecting little mutants as they came in and out of the Foundation.

Her victims usually reacted with annoyance, but then rapidly paling when they realized that there was no one there. (Of course, it was just Seulgi hiding, but shhh don’t tell them that or she’ll come and infect you~)

Except for this one. This girl simply stood still as the snow dripped down her clothes.

................Wait a second. Isn’t that the mutant that could manipulate ice? (and yep Seulgi’s gone and threw a snowball at her)

Seulgi’s little face paled in terror. (Not that she’ll ever admit it - “It was the cold, obviously”)

And so Seulgi immediately turned tail to escape Jinah’s wrath, but it seemed that luck was not on her side today.

Sentence Starters

His expression drops in a second. He’s standing completely still- frozen. There’s no way he can figure out how to react. He doesn’t know what to say, but he does know one thing: he doesn’t want her to ever say that again. He glances to the ground very slowly- breath escaping in a pathetic sigh. How does he help her? How does he even begin to make her feel better? He’s not sure what he can give her. He doesn’t have anything on hand. There’s no bear he can win her or jokes he feels like he can make. It’s just the two of them- outside the foundation. There’s a small breeze and if Wonshik were any smaller he might even think it’s cold. It’s not normal for him to approach her when he sees her around. Before they didn’t talk, but now… Well… He wanted to check on her.

She seemed down in the first place. He likes to try to talk to her when she is, because he hopes he can be worth something to her. It would be good if he could improve her mood. He sits next to her on the bench and tilts his head. What should he say? It’s so hard to determine the types of things that she might want to hear. Things feel strange and he’s already in a weird enough mood. Sleeves are hiding injuries from fights. If she could see them, he’s not sure what she would say. She probably wouldn’t worry. He wants to think she’s not a worrier. So he smiles- small and confident. The sleeves feel strange- he feels weird wearing them. They aren’t comfortable. They rub against his skin in the wrong way and it makes him shiver just a little. He doesn’t feel like moving. He’s in pain, sure, but pain he can deal with. Discomfort is something completely different.

“Please don’t say that.” He wants to touch her, but in the back of his mind he says he shouldn’t. She wouldn’t like it. She’s an ice princess, after all. He needs permission for that sort of thing. “I… I’m not sure what to say, but I’m here for ya’. Did someone do something? Is it him again?” 

His eyes narrow. If he ever figures out who he is, Wonshik will be showing off his full set of combat abilities (most of which include beating the living hell out of people with no skill involved. Brute strength can be pretty useful.) Making a pretty girl like Jinah feel even remotely sad is something Wonshik considers worth quite a bit of punishment. He may not know the specifics, but, honestly, has he ever been the type to stop and think about both sides when he doesn’t know half at all? The answer is clearly no.

Jinah is the kind of strong that no one really sees, simply because she does not want people to see it. Heechul looks at her and can see that flare of anger and hate in her eyes underneath her soft and shy demeanor.

She is the lives in her veins, a fragile outlook to all those who glance at her, but a deadly strength that is never realised until it is much too late. 

So it makes Heechul wonder exactly what connotations her words really have, if she’s telling him to accept what has happened, or that more sacrifices are required for him to find some sort of peace in his quiet yet fucked up life. 

Maybe she genuinely means it as just a casual comment, he really does not know. 

For once, he is unsure of whether he is the pessimist or the optimist, to say that the glass is either half empty or half full.

She’s been here for a while, and that might even be starting to show -- Yeji’s natural bursting energy has toned down to an easy calm, mostly because the bonfire smoke is really starting to irritate her nose and even the corners of her eyes. She rubs her nose as if that can somehow force the itching smoke out of it as she steps away, a slight grin on her lips -- her mission is accomplished, she’d say.

The world presents itself in shades of green through her night vision, and occasionally her eyes glint red in the darkness from the wrong angle, but she strides away from the fires unfazed, merely seeking some cleaner air. She doesn’t want to say she’s tired, and she certainly doesn’t want to abandon the festivities yet, so instead she opts for getting off the beach and back into the rows of festive lights, taking the broad and mixed scents of food over the stinging smell of smoke.

A few flicks of her glance and her vision’s back to color, and she squints harshly at the change -- she shouldn’t be playing with that so much, but being near to the lights makes it impossible to see through the dark vision mode. Yeji shakes her head rapidly a couple of times, scratching her hair as her focus returns; honestly, if she can help it, maybe she’ll keep away from the fires for the rest of the evening.

As her senses re-adjust something familiar catches them, a cool scent that doesn’t match the summer heat at all, and Yeji perks up. A few steps more and she’s navigated to its source; her face may be hidden partly behind a scarf, but Yeji would recognize her presence anywhere by now.

Well, Hongbin was definitely gone... Wonshik had no clue what exactly gone implied, but at the moment he was assuming the worst. There were so many things that someone could want to kidnap Bin for. His particular skill set was useful for. That wasn’t helping Wonshik’s nerves as he started looking for his roommate. Why was Hongbin like this? Why did he always have to disappear at the worst times and with no warning? Wonshik scratched his head and peered around the crowd. There were a lot of people, for sure, but none of them were Hongbin.

It was then he notice her. A familiar face, for sure. Jinah was a very beautiful woman, and Wonshik was quick to notice that sort of thing. She was standing a bit away from the crowd, and seemed maybe a bit troubled. Actually, that was an understatement. She was ducked into her scarf and look practically like she was going to cry. For a moment, all of Wonshik’s worries about his roommate fell to the wayside. It always hurt to see someone so upset directly in front of him... Worse when he actually had a name to put to the face.

So he made his way over to her. It was impulse at this point, the desire to help anyone when they were suffering. He had never thought of himself as the type who did this often, yet it was basically instinctual. He wanted to help, to make her smile if he could. There was never a reason for such a lovely person to look so bitter and pained. Pain was supposed to be reserved for a different type... A rougher one.

“Jinah-yah?” He spoke with a very small smile. Maybe this was a poor way of going about it. “Sorry to bother you. I just noticed you seem a bit down.” His hands were in his pockets. He didn’t really know what to do or say to make her feel better, but he would try none the less. It had to mean something that he was trying, right? He smiled for real now; sharp teeth showing. He sometimes forgot just how out of place he could look.

For Yeji, the drone retrieval mission had been nothing.

Hunting robots isn’t that different from hunting people -- both are happy to kill you if you slip up, both leave trails, both have weaknesses. The drones had a spot on their backs that Yeji had little problem tearing into, using a thick blade to pop open the metal casing and stab through delicate wiring; she’d subdued two, in fact, having stalked after a certain young mutant and claimed his prey when he failed to do so.

She’d been admonished for having civilians whispering about her -- a girl with wild eyes dashing through the shadows toward the carnage -- of course she was suspicious, a couple even saw her at work -- but she’d merely retorted that she did as asked, and did it well. The foundation has no right to be displeased with her -- not considering the state most of their precious potentials are in.

For instance, considering the state Jinah’s in.

Yeji’s got a permanent grumpy face unless she’s hunting something or showing her cute side to get what she wants -- but right now, her lips are curled in a special degree of irritation as she meticulously brushes the frost from her favorite ice princess’s scrapes and burns and follows up with a gentle enough application of ointment to each one (to help with the scars and the pain -- though Yeji wouldn’t care about the former herself).
