The clock stuck five, signaling the end of another day. For Adrien, however, it was far from over. He got up from his desk and made his way down to the basement of the police department.
He still couldn’t really believe that he was being allowed to go through with this. He had figured his superiors would have laughed and told him to go home. That the accident had rattled his brain more than they thought. But he had presented his evidence and he supposed they had enough faith in him not to do anything stupid.
The door to the cybercrimes division creaked open and the faint glow of screens greeted him. He took a seat behind one and inserted a flash drive. The program had been written by a friend of Eridan’s with whom Adrien had contacted through the memories he was given by the former. She had written the code to do everything automatically once the initial program was run. Adrien opened the files and selected the program in question. He sat back as files, websites, and programs opened one after the other in a cascade of images on the screen.
They were in. Everything was going according to plan. In a matter of minutes, the satellite holding Eridan captive would plummet to Earth. It was up to him now to avoid being roasted alive in the stratosphere.
Once everything was complete, Adrien pulled out the flash drive and got up. He returned to his desk to collect his things, then proceeded to the parking lot. Helmet on, he sped off on his Harley towards the airport.
His destination: the rendezvous point in India.
