Hon, there’s nothing wrong with the way you feel. It’s completely understandable and even normal for the situation you’re in. It’s not fair of your mom to not accept you the way you are, and I’m sorry to hear about it.

If she doesn’t make the effort to talk about it “later” with you, you could try bringing it up again, or maybe going to a more supportive family member. And for now, just remember that you are whoever it is that you are, no explanation necessary. Stay strong, kiddo.

Is your therapist working for the church, or are they just religious? Hopefully the latter, because that shouldn’t affect your counseling. But if it’s the former, you need to be careful. Ask the therapist whether or not the information you share is confidential and be careful. It sucks that your mom didn’t take you to someone less personal but this may turn out okay, so don’t give up.

Not believing in God is still your choice, and it’s still okay. I’m glad you didn’t relapse. Stay strong for me, kiddo. I’m here for you.

I still haven’t decided if getting rx sunglasses are worth it, because they’re really expensive, but I’m not totally blind without glasses. But I don’t know if my vision is good enough to work without them. And I’m worried I’m going to screw something up. I have a friend who’s in her second year as a lifeguard, and she’s said that everyone is really nice, and I know I’m not going to get in trouble if I mess up my first day. But I’m still really nervous. I need to get over this!

A little pre-job anxiety is normal. I get it. Anxiety hits us all. But you’re going to be okay. Things almost never turn out as scary as we think they will and I’m sure you’re be surrounded by a supportive group of people who will help you out. After all, it’s your first day. They’re not expecting you to walk in and know everything.
