Fem!Reader x Tendou Satori
âNot now Ushijimaâ
For the past few weeks, you had been trying to summon the courage to ask out your long-term crush, Tendou Satori out on a date. Being a self-proclaimed shy person it wasnât easy to walk up to him, especially with half of your class snickering about it behind your back. But something in you simply snapped when they mentioned how you, the shyest and most reserved person they know, could never manage to ask the schools best middle blocker out.
With a little encouragement from your best friend, you decided to take your chance as soon as the hallways were beginning to empty.
It was only when you were standing before his lanky figure you had realized what you were doing.
Sweet Jesus, what in the Godâs name am I-
âOh, Y/n-chan! Fancy seeing you hereâ Tendou beamed upon seeing your face. Being the guess monster he is, you hoped he wouldnât read your face and think you were constipated.
âWhat brings you out here during the scary lunch break time?â The redhead spoke in a playful manner.
âWell, I, uh,â your hands found their way to the end of your hair, slightly tugging at them like every time you were nervous, âI was just wonderingâŠIf youâd maybe like to go grab coffee sometime?â
The look on his face gave you hope as it wasnât like anything youâd seen him do. On the other hand, for Tendou, he had known what you were gonna ask him all along. Paying attention to you had only become a habit over the last week or so, once he started acknowledging you and the rumors about your crush on him. Thinking about it then, he was positive he could turn you down gently and without feeling bad about himself. But when he saw your nervous shifting on the spot, and might he add due to his amazing reading skills, he was able to determine how your intentions were truthful and your hopes high.
âIâll meet you there after school, yeah?â Satori sang as he quickly walked after his friends, his hands behind his head and you in awe.
ââââ
âThen why did you say yes?â Tendou wanted to cry over how dense his friendâs mind can be.
âUshijima, look, you canât turn someone down without giving them a reason toâ He tried to explain, but knowing their captain he will take it literally.
âYou said you werenât attracted to her, so why couldnât you simply let her know?â Ushijima stated, packing his school bag.
âJust call me for fifteen minutes saying we have practice,â Tendou had almost given up.
âBut we donât have practice toda-â
âUshijima-Kun!â he continued to plead and he could feel his entire body relax when he noticed him giving a stern nod.
Tendou flopped down on his crossed arms and savored the silence, waiting for what he thought would be the longest fifteen minutes of his life. He could swear he wouldâve dozed off if his âdateâ hadnât shown up. Once he looked up he could notice how you were giving off a more sleek and clean aura, due to your skin looking a bit more refreshed and your hair obviously smoothed down with a brush.
âSorry Iâm lateâ you mumbled with a huff, sitting on a chair across of him.
âAh donât mind! I didnât know what you like so I didnât order anything yet,â he attempted to make small chat until the waiter came and took your order. After he ordered his chocolate shake, he averted his gaze towards the nearest clock, wondering how much longer until his rescue.
âSo, Y/n-chan! What do you like to do?â He asked, expecting the same answer as always on his 'datesâ. Another reason why he didnât feel ecstatic to go was that he appeared to attract the same type of girls and that became very boring, very soon.
âOkay, promise you wonât make fun of me,â you said, still debating whether or not you should tell him your secret, âI like shounenâŠWell, anything, reallyâ.
With this newfound information, his whole being seemed to lit up. His usually hunched back straightened and the gleam in his eyes seemed familiar. In this case, you could easily recognize the look on his face. It was identical to the one heâd make when heâd block an opponent's spike. And quite frankly, thatâs how he felt. After all of his persuasion to get his team to read at least one shounen manga he wouldâve never guessed heâd find his savior in this small ball of somewhat adorable shyness, in you.
âWell well, what about th-â
And there it was.
His rescue call.
His hands fidgeted around his bag as he took his phone out and answered it with a quick: âNot now Ushijimaâ.
âBut you told me-â.
âAnd you told me, thereâd be no practice. G'byeâ he finished quickly and gladly went back to your conversation.
âNow, where were we my fellow shounen fan,â he said with the sweetest tone he could muster, trying his best not to scare you off.
And once he heard that giggle, he knew heâd find himself trying to make you laugh more than he couldâve ever dreamed of.
