On April 12th, 2019, our opening announcement was posted, and just four days later, we passed our 15 apps required for opening. Therefore, on the happy day of April 20th, 2019, almost an entire year ago, we welcomed the first batch of members to MI! 

Some of you are still with us today, some of you joined us tonight, but we are grateful to all of you for making MI a wonderful place to be. Hitting this milestone wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of you, and we hope we can continue to reach more and more anniversaries together in the future! 

To celebrate, everyone, including our new muses accepted tonight, can bank another +10 points to your tallies. We’re working on a new and improved system, as well as other fun things such as the aforementioned locations page, new canons and, of course, events, so keep a lookout for those! 

I was lucky enough to have a friend that is currently attending the Gugak(국악: Korean traditional music) national school. She is a 거문고(geomungo) player, and I interviewed her about 국악. Here is the interview and the translations! It will be helpful if you practice reading Korean. There is a key vocabulary list at the end of the interview.

Hello, lovelies! Today, December 20th, marks two years since Murder Inc’s return, and as last year, we couldn’t be prouder of everything Murder Inc has achieved over the past two years, and most importantly, the wonderful people that have joined us and helped MI grow and develop along the way. So many amazing memories have been shared among all of us and we feel so incredibly lucky to be making this post. Murder Inc would not still be around if not for you beautiful, dedicated members and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so happy that Murder Inc has become a home for so many of you and that you stay here, posting week by week and interacting with one another and getting to know the community.

To each old member that’s been here for nearly the entire two years, and then to each member that’s only just recently joined, you are vital to Murder Inc and the greatest addition to this community. We realize that we’ve have our slow times and everyone here has no doubt experienced highs and lows over the period of time that this place has been going, but we still manage to stick around and be here for one another when we can be. Something that we truly admire about Murder Inc is how close the directory seems to be. Your time spent with us means more than you could ever know, as you are genuinely a family to us. We’re sure that the same can be said for most of you, so once again; thank you, MI!

In honour of this incredible achievement, we feel now is the perfect time to give Murder Inc a breath of fresh air — starting with a new lick of paint! Admin Gyu has created a beautiful new main and graphics for us, including updated logos for some of our gangs! Along with that, I’m sure that you all have also noticed our url change! Now that tumblr is trickier with the dashes, we figured it would help to tidy things up a bit and make things cleaner.

In addition to this, we are retiring all of our existing sideblogs and present you first and foremost with MICOLLECTIVE! MICOLLECTIVE brings together the need-to-know about each gang, but more importantly, serves as the home base for our two brand new features! The first may feel familiar to some of you, as it was part of our Valentine’s Day event back in February — territory! Gangs and the SPD, starting in 2018, will be able to fight for ownership of randomly selected districts. But how? We’re glad you asked! Each muse will have the chance to sign up for work. They will be assigned a task relating to their position within their gang (or the SPD) and completion will aid their efforts in gaining control. What about the unaffiliated? Unaffiliated members may choose who they want to give assistance to, or be randomly assigned an affiliation to help. Civilians? Your efforts will help the SPD! More details on how this will all work can be found on the blog itself, but we hope it will help bring the gang concept to life a little more!

You may also have noticed some familiar (or unfamiliar) names in our current event, too, such as Club ACE and COEX Mall — MICOLLECTIVE also has a brand new locations page! We encourage you to send in details of your own locations to be added to the directory, too! Let’s build Seoul together! 

Finally, the third of our new instalments is MIBULLETIN! This blog replaces our former Korean Herald sideblog, giving us more scope for different news updates and to run a higher volume of mini events! Additionally, it also gives you, our members, the power to run your own mini events should you use, and interact with future news reports and updates that will post here with IC eye witness reports and civilian interviews by our news team!

Also! We have decided to get rid of our rule regarding the previous inability to play more than one idol from the same group. From this point on, you’re no longer restricted when it comes to playing a faceclaim just because of what group they’re in. If that’s what you’re the most comfortable with, it is now completely acceptable and allowed.

Even more exciting things will come over the next 365 days, too — this is only the beginning, and we hope that you are all as excited about the new additions as we are! As always, if you have any questions, all the ask boxes are open, including Wonwoo and Mingyu’s! 

Once again, thank you for an incredible two years, MI. It has been an honour to be with you every step of the way, and we can’t wait to see how all your muses grow and develop in the future. Hi, I’m Admin Gyu. Today I’m gonna introduce some old-sayings and four-character idioms frequently used in Korea today. Learning old-sayings and four-character Chinese idioms is really important to Korean people because we use lots of phrases like these in our daily conversation. (+Korean students have to study hard on these old sayings because it comes out in the Korean SAT) 

Sayings(=proverbs) is a short sentence that people often quote, which gives advice or tells you something about life. And four charcter Chinese idioms are similar to old-sayings but it is a little bit different. It consists of four Chinese characters(Hanja). 

You may think Chinese idioms are not Korean because they are technically ‘Chinese’. But since Korea borrowed the Chinese characters in the past(before King Sejong invented 한글), we use loads of Chinese words that were developed during the past (A common phenomenon found in some East Asian countries. In fact, the majority of Korean words can be written in Chinese characters. Some students memorize the Chinese version of the words because Hanja symbolizes the meaning, while Hangeul symbolizes the sound. So if we know the Chinese version, it’s easier to know the meaning of the word. However, Chinese characters are VERY complicated and hard.) 

So when we study Korean as a young student, we also learn lots of Chinese characters to learn increase our vocabulary. And one way to learn Chinese character easily is to learn through the four-character Chinese idioms (사자성어). Many of them shows Korea/China’s history or culture so studying them also helps you understand history! If you want to study more about Korea’s traditional culture or history or have a more natural conversation, these will help you increase your Korean skill!

Honestly speaking, we would absolutely adore to have any of them! Sunny, Taeyeon, and Hyoyeon are taken, but when it comes to the open SNSD members, I would say Seohyun! Admin Woo’s vote also goes to Seohyun, as well as Yoona! 

Hello, everyone! We just had a few updates that we wanted to notify you about. For the most part, this post is just addressing a few topics revolving around sending in forms! From now on, we are extending the turnaround deadline (in other words, the time it takes for us to send your submits after we’ve received your forms) from 1-2 days to around 5 days! This is just to save us admins from some of the stress and pressure that comes along with it, especially when we receive multiple forms all around the same time! We’re sorry that it will likely be a little more of a delay, but we also know that you’re all so caring and understanding and hopefully won’t mind. (Especially if this means that we will be able to spend more time and write better submits!)

The second thing, which ties in with this, is that we have created a new page on the points blog! Just so that everyone will have a way of knowing whether or not we have received your forms, we have an active rewards page that we will update to keep you all in the know. We note whether we’re still reviewing/verifying information and points (noted as ‘reviewing’), whether we’ve finished the first step and we’re working on getting your submit written (noted as ‘in progress’), and whether we’ve already sent it (noted as ‘submitted’)!

First things first, we’ve got a meme coming any minute now to get everyone going! Please make sure to reblog if you’re interested and send lots to one another — especially seen as each 200+ word response is worth points! 

Secondly, we want to give you all a few reminders. Please don’t forget to include a link to the main on your blog, and much more importantly, trigger warnings both on your future posts and your pages. In a setting like this, it’s even more important to be careful with tagging and labelling content correctly, so if you’re not sure at any point, please don’t hesitate to send us a message and we’ll help you along! We know it can be easy to forget sometimes, so don’t worry if you do; just make sure to add them on as soon as you can. 

Next, our forms! If your muse owns or works at a business not included on our locations page, we’d love for you to submit a short location form so we can add it! For those of you looking for specific connections, our connections form is also up and we’d love to help you fill those important plots! Similarly, we also have an NPC list, for those who have NPCs for your muses that impact Myeongcho’s setting, such as large company owners or MPD member parents. These forms are all optional, of course, but we’d love for you all to help us build and develop Myeongcho as a world! 

Lastly, our intro tag is mi:intro, our open plots tag is mi:openplot and our open starter tag is mi:openstarter! Please use them so everyone can find your intros and plots in what we’re sure will be a fast-paced dash full of meme reblogs and endless intros! Also, don’t forget to follow our bulletin sideblog, mixbulletin! 

Most importantly, though, we’d like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for the incredibly amount of love and support you’ve given MI and its opening. We’re amazed at how many apps we got in such a short amount of time ( almost five times our opening requirement... Wow... ) and super excited to see all of your wonderful muses on dash, interacting and causing trouble! So, please have lots of fun and keep our MPD muses busy! Thank you, again! 

In terms of age ranges, we would really love seeing more older muses ( 30 - 50 and beyond! ). To put it in perspective, we only have 6 muses that are over 30! 83 muses are under 30, and 53 of those are under 25! So, we would be super excited to have older and more experienced muses around! That’s not to say we wouldn’t be excited to see more young muses, however, it’s ultimately down to whoever you’d feel the most comfortable playing!

As for muses, I would like to make a note that out of affiliations, we have the most muses that are unaffiliated (no gang, still partaking in criminal activities). So, we would love having more plain civilians! Plus, extra gang members that aren’t in Hydrus or Phoenix since they have a fair amount of members. Lynx, Corvus, and Columba need some love! We also always need more members of the MPD to help try to offset some of the gang activity/restore peace!

When it comes to specifics, I would want to perhaps see more individuals that were forced into the gang life! Maybe they owed a debt and had to join the gang since they had no hope of paying it off! Or, maybe indebted parents desperate to protect as many of their kids as possible ended up trading one of them for a clean slate (alternatively, one could volunteer to do it to help the rest)! Crooked cops is also always something we want to see around! We have plenty of undercover MPD members, but it would be nice to see it switched around and instead of being snakes inside of gangs, have more corrupted members of the police department!
