Some Neurodivergent Relativity Falls Things
(These are going with my personal headcanons, autistic Ford, anxiety Fidds, and ADHD Mabel (along with autistic, ADHD, social anxiety Bella, but thatâs less of a âheadcanonâ since sheâs my OC))
Ford stims by chewing on the end of his pens, but because this often causes the pens to break, Bella gets him a chewy (made for chewing stims) that goes on the end of pens and pencils, so he can chew that instead
Bella, Fidds, and Ford all tap stim together (playing music and tapping along to it)
Bella and Ford flap their hands
Bella notices how much Mabel is like her and asks âHey! Do you have ADHD too?â
Mabel was never diagnosed but thinks maybe she DOES have ADHD, after all, it sounds a lot like her
Bella teaches Mabel ways sheâs learned to help with her ADHD
Bella and Ford info-dump to Fidds a lot
Bella and Ford help Fidds with anxiety/panic attacks
Fidds and Ford help Bella with sensory overload/meltdowns
Ford scripts a lot and helps Bella to make scripts because she doesnât know how
Ford looks into the autism diagnosis and sees how part of it is not being able to tell how others are feeling, which can show itself in not being able to tell if someone likes you, and he just goes Oh...
Bella enjoys talking online rather than real life, because youâre able to pause and think about a response more, while Ford prefers real life to text because itâs easier to pick up on tone
Conflicting sensory needs (Bella canât stand the smell of coffee, Ford loves it) leads to a few issues, but they figure it out
Fidds and Ford stim together
Bella introduces Ford to the sensory heaven that soft fluffy things
Ford never gets an IEP because he doesnât get an official diagnosis until after heâs out of school, but he doesnât quite need one; he does great in school
Bella does have an IEP, and has had one since she was diagnosed with ADHD
Fidds also has an IEP for his anxiety
Mabel does everything in her power to make sure both Bella and Fidds are comfortable while theyâre working (with their different forms of anxiety)
Stan, the socially adept twin, answers any questions Ford has about social interaction
Bella and Mabel being Bouncy⢠together
The Pines family (with, of course, Bella and Fidds) watching movies and every so often Bella speaks up and points at a character and goes âShe has ADHDâ or âHe has autismâ or âShe had anxietyâ.
Bella has lots of small, short special interests, while Ford only has a few, long-term SpIns
Ford and Fidds both having problems sleeping one night and they go downstairs and just talk science and eat snacks
Ford and Bella both have extreme executive dysfunction when it comes to taking care of themselves (showering, eating, sleeping, ect) so Stan and Fidds watch after them
Bella has extreme emotions (like really extreme), while Ford does as well but theyâre not as extreme
Bella and Ford excited at the same time and they hand flap together
Bella finds really good stim songs and sends them to Fidds and Ford
Bella has extreme feelings for her stuffed animals and pets (I donât know the right word. Like, she always asks if theyâre hurt and talks to them a lot?), but not much for other people and feels a bit awkward when others share bad feelings with her
Ford doesnât show empathy or sympathy much or correctly; it always seems a bit awkward or forced, but he does genuinely care
Bella likes to stim sometimes by combing Fiddsâ hair; itâs one reason he grows it out a bit
Ford likes to stim/is sensory seeking by playing with Fiddsâ hair once theyâre together
It helps Fidds calm down when they mess with his hair like that
