she's stress reading
my eighth or so favourite part of sacrifice is the scene where there's a transmisogynist joke followed by a gay joke in quick succession
The Image <3 (of prude, weird, awkward sammy) (the first cage btw)

sam telling dean to 'bundle up out there', probably a dig but his half sincerity is so cute
three-layered metaphorical accusation of monstrosity wrt 1) the guy they, as hunters, have suspected and whom the narrative (skewed towards hunter judgment) has accused but falsely so to set up the plot twist, 2) the plot twist wrt the motw being madison instead of the stalker ex-boyfriend, who, in this case, is both the hidden human hearts as well as the häagen-dazs ice cream, and 3) her narrative mirroring of sam, whom is currently subject to arc-specific constant monstrous accusation as it relates to his own hunter-specific fear of the perceivable fallaciously inevitable becoming 'them' enough to not only be eradicated but to also desecrate the familial dynamic that currently frames dean's (on behalf of john's), the hunter AND family member whose beliefs sam would be/currently is desecrating with his inevitable Becoming, perspective of sam as an innocent to be protected for whom an encroachment of monstrosity is unthinkable due to the perceivable (also fallacious) righteousness of the familial dynamic (especially sam's position within it as an innocent to be protected and his own position of being responsible for the protecting, doubly especially so on behalf of john). like sam's joking but dean really does go to double check the freezer before he gets distracted which i think can also be metaphorical for the narrative's playing into its own skewedness towards hunter belief wrt a monster's (sam's) inherent and inevitable violence—and its assumption that the audience agrees with these beliefs as the narrative skews towards it because audience belief is the only reason the twist would work; you would also have to believe that they're really and truly onto something with their investigating of their initial suspect despite the narrowness of the clues and perspectives the show provides in synonymy with sam and dean's investigation as well as the other smaller clues and tropes the narrative itself includes towards to introduce other suspicion—despite its own portrayal and depiction of characterisation otherwise
sam is a little absent and solitary (the latter of which i enjoy but it's indicative of wider narrative dynamics in this context) in this episode because of garth's position as more so a dean-adj character on account of the contrast he explicitly exists to create between the two as a third party that tends to be utilised to acknowledge samndean-specific conflict with said contrast
