CONFESSION:
My Aeducan named her Mabari ‘Gorim’ after her Second. I thought it would be a sentimental and humorous twist on how Gorim always followed her around in Orzammar, only to gain another living creature that also follows her around, both as loyal as a dog, but smart. :)
CONFESSION:
Everyone has their own preferences in regards to their favorite origin and what makes one better than the other and I would never disregard another’s opinion on that, but for me personally the origin that makes the most sense (and the one that I think would be the best for a tv/film series) is Aeducan. The Aeducan origin flows seamlessly into the narrative, imo.
Whereas the elf and human origins seem strangely ignorant of their own world (“What’s a Tranquil? What is the Fade? What is the Chantry?”), an Aeducan asking these questions is completely normal and expected. In a tv series or film, the Dwarf origins would be the perfect vehicle to introduce the audience to the way Thedas works. And Aeducan would have the added benefit over Brosca by being a seasoned warrior who has fought and killed darkspawn in several battles, so that when Alistair hands over leadership it doesn’t feel shoehorned in just as a way to give the player complete control over the decision-making.
And a personal favorite of mine, the Alistair/Aeducan romance could be rife with angst depending on how you play it: a traumatized and flawed Aeducan who sees Anora as just another Bhelen, and knowing what a pit of vipers court politics can be but feels she has no choice but to throw Alistair into the middle of it, just to have it bite her back in the ass a second time when he dumps her because of said court politics.
CONFESSION:
After learning the lore of the legion of the dead, it makes much more sense to me that warden Aeducan would have joined the legion instead of the grey wardens and that kinda bugs me
CONFESSION:
I recently started an origins playthrough as a dwarf warrior with the noble origin, and oml i absolutely love it - im playing her as a down to earth lass and im trying so hard not to have her romance alistair like my city elf playthrough
