Iâm holding my breath. One hand, if they wait it out tonight to carry out whatever bogus coup they intend, and they are just let in with little to no resistance, calling it quits as a disappointed American has no consequences. They just get their way. But on the other hand, if police finally shoot back as a last resort, suddenly we have a victimized protest and the ammo they sought after to overthrow current democracy. Itâs a lose-lose situation. Sincerely, a Minnesotan who saw first hand the villainizing of protestors after George Floydâs murder. They canât deny proof of double standards after this BS.
Also not for nothing, like I obviously think the reaction to this is completely warranted, but like these fuckers do understand that THIS IS A BUILDING, CORRECT?! Like, you havenât just suddenly overthrown the US GOVERNMENT because you broke into what is now essentially AN EMPTY BUILDING???? Like I sincerely do not think that most of these morons even have enough understanding to grasp that being inside of the Capitol building means nothing other than the fact that youâre inside the Capitol building, you didnât like, suddenly become the government or something. I keep on waiting for us to hit the bottom and it feels like we never do, I hope that this is the bottom and something actually fucking HAPPENS as a result of this, but Iâm not holding my breath.

I know we donât see eye to eye on Adalind but this statement is đŻ.
Her arc tho. There was room for improvement but her arc was quite the transition. And I like all the analysis that came from it, too! Sheâs a very⌠interesting character to say the least but always, always woven within the thread. She one way or another decided the outcome, whether she anticipated it or not.
Yes! Well, very slowly, as real life allows.
And yes, thereâs no doubt that Adalind has one of the most drastic changes from start to finish of any other character on the show (I think the only comparable one is Juliette, and I think in a lot of ways their arcs actually mirror each other).
And she absolutely moved the plot more than any other single character I can think of, from start to finish. In fact I feel like every major shift in the showâs plot came from her character in one way or another. The end of seasons one, three, and four without question, and arguably the endgame is set into motion by her as well, in a way.
NikMik: can i ask you to turn that "2nd husband" prompt into a full story? :P
not a full story, but how about a mini-sequel (to this)? also tagging @adelindschade for the original prompt
It was a quiet Sunday night, the last bit of their weekend before Caroline sat up in bed with her planner to set her strategy for the week ahead. Klaus cuddled her close to him as they sprawled on the couch, his fingers playing in her hair. His mind wandered to their conversation the day before, an invitation to their high school reunion having brought forth memories he thought long-buried. Of course they were going, Caroline had already scribbled on their shared calendar and picked out a dress. âIf someone had told me ten years ago that Iâd be sitting here with you, in a home we shared,â he murmured, âI wouldnât have believed them.â
She raised her head from his chest, slightly disgruntled to tear her attention from the TV but she could hear the weight of something in his voice. âWhat are you talking about?â
His lips lifted in a small grin as a finger traced the edge of her jaw. They were passing ships throughout college, both having moved up to Providence - him for RISD, her for Brown - and accidentally frequenting the same coffee shop. It took Klaus three run-ins to finally ask her out, only for her to turn him down. Fresh off her breakup with Tyler the summer before, Caroline fully embraced singlehood and a stark desire to remain unattached while she figured out life away from Mystic Falls.
Still, Klaus greedily took advantage of every chance meeting, even as he dated his way through the art crowd and hangers-on. âThe night you kissed me,â he mused, âI was so surprised, I thought it might have been a dream because Iâd wanted you for so long.â
They had been at a bar, nearing graduation. His friends wanted to see some local band, whose drummer just happened to be Carolineâs best friend. âYou were tipsy and beautiful, lights darting across your face. And when you looked up at me, youâŚsmiled.â
âAnd youâre sappy tonight,â she teased, reaching up to poke one of his dimples.
He captured her hand, bringing it to his lips. âOnly for you, love.â
Sitting up, she brushed her fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck. A flash of concern tugged her lips downward. âSeriously, whatâs going on? Youâre kind of freaking me out.â
âI was thinking about the reunion,â he admitted. âStefan and I once chatted about you, you know, way back when.â
Caroline rolled her eyes. âDuh, you were obsessed with me.â
âI always said,â Klaus continued, running a soothing hand down her leg, âthat if I ever had the chance, Iâd be your second husband in a heartbeat.â
Narrowing her eyes, she at least recognized the familiar joke. âWhat happened to the first?â
Unlike the mischievous smirk sheâd grown to love over the years, Klausâs mouth strained into a fearful frown. He patted his jean pocket for the small box heâd taken to carrying around, waiting for the perfect moment. âHe probably dropped dead of fright before actually asking,â he answered. With a slight tremble in his fingers, he managed to pop open the box to reveal the diamond ring inside. âCaroline Forbes, will you marry me?â
Her hand pressed to her mouth, Caroline nearly stopped breathing. About to break her neck nodding, she spread her hands across his chest to hold herself up. âAre you sure? This better not be just to prove to Tyler and Stefan that you won the long game, Klaus, I swear to-â
Laughing, Klaus hauled her up for a kiss, holding her face like she was precious to him. She was. âI love you,â he whispered against her lips. âI donât have to prove anything, not if you say yes.â
âYes!â she said, over and over as she pressed kisses to his face. âI love you, I love you, I-â
Their quiet night was lost to kisses and celebratory calls to her parents and his siblings, to the overwhelming plans already snagging in that brilliant brain of hers, to the love he looked forward to sharing for the rest of their lives.
I turned off anon now, so if they feel that their opinion on me absolutely MUST be heard, they are free to put in a message off anon.
Iâm honestly really curious about who it is??? Like who has enough time on their hands to harrass me for weeks? Dear anon, please come talk to me! I promise Iâll keep your identity private if you satisfy my curiosity đ

Mini prompt idea!! Caroline seeks refuge @ Klaus's place while her friends fight the latest big bad. (She's sooo done with that mess). Klaus is in Europe and Rebekah leaves him ambiguous texts about a 'surprise' . Girls night fun + Klaus coming home to find Caroline sleeping in his bed. :D
Thanks for the prompt! I only managed a bit of it but Iâm trying to keep these around 1K
Caroline knocks, again, smashing the ornate knocker (that sheâs pretty sure is actually gold, not that sheâs surprised) against the door hardenough that the sound echoes. If Klaus can afford door bling, shouldnât thereshould be a butler or something around to answer the door if he couldnât bebothered to do it himself?
Sheâs going to have to memorize his number. For emergencies.Sheâd left her place in Miami in a hurry, had lost her phone at some point whensheâd been trying to lose her tail. Since the vampires whoâd so rudely bustedin the door of her condo were looking to use her for leverage and it was technically Klaus fault sheâd figured hecould lend a hand. Sheâd need him to activate some kind of evil vampire textchain to put the word out that no, he wasnât handing out prizes for captured doppelgängersthese days ASAP.
If he wanted to provide beignets and good booze and acontinuation of the tour heâd taken her on fifteen years ago her ire couldmaybe be cooled.
Providing he snapped his fingers and got a minion to fix hertrashed apartment, of course.
She hears footsteps on the other side of the door, a voicebelonging to an individual sheâd reallybeen hoping to avoid, complaining stridently about her evening being interrupted.
Caroline pastes the politest smile she can manage on herface, quickly smooths her wrinkled sundress, knowing itâs not going to do alick of good. Rebekahâs a bit unsteady on her feet when she throws the dooropen, and not her usual perfectly coiffed self. Caroline assumes that the heavycrystal bottle in her hand, only a quarter full, can be blamed. âWell,â Rebekahdrawls, looking Caroline up and down, âisnât this a surprise.â Her head tips tothe side, her nose wrinkling, âOr wait, did Nik know you were coming? Have youprogressed to clandestine meetings already? If so, Iâll owe Kol a large sum ofmoney and a very annoying favor and Iâll be mostdispleased.â
Caroline considers asking for more details, decides sheprobably doesnât want to know. âNo, Klaus has no idea Iâm here. I would have givenhim a heads up but I couldnât.â
âAh, that makes more sense,â Rebekah says the words quietly, more to herself than to Caroline.
âIs he home?â Caroline prompts, when Rebekah doesnât seemwilling to do the polite thing and invite her in. âOr, if youâd point me in thedirection heâs gone Iâm sure I can find him.â Heâd expressed some definiteopinions the last time she was here and he wasnât the kind of guy who changedhis mind. His snobbery about the quality of liquor he could deign to be served wasbone deep.
âFraid not. He jetted off to Italy this morning. An auction, some pieces heâs been trying to obtain for decades. Â It was so important he be there that he leftme behind when I was eight minutes late. As if it wasnât a private plane.â
Crap. If Klaus was out of the country that made things moredifficult. Caroline casts a glance over her shoulder, confirming that nothingbehind her has changed, that thereâs no one closing in. When she turns backRebekahâs nose has wrinkled, âYouâre acting awfully shifty, Caroline. Makes agirl suspicious. Will your little friends be popping out of the bushes? TheBennett witch is getting a bit old for futile battles, isnât she?â
Well, that was an offensive assumption. âI havenât tried tokill Klaus in like forty years. Why would I start again now?â
Rebekah lifts one shoulder, takes a hefty swig from thebottle sheâs clutching, âI didnât say I was judging, did I? He can be such a trial.â
âTrue, and I guess thatâs kind of why Iâm here. Some nuttyvampires are hoping to use Elena to get Klaus to give them a pony or something.Bonnieâs warded Mystic Falls against vampires. My place? Not so much. Theyfollowed me home from a meet up in Richmond, thought lilâ olâ me would goquietly.â
âYou, quiet? Hardly.â
Caroline doesnât take offense, not even to the derisivesnort. âI figured Klaus owed me a safe haven but if heâs not here I guess Iâlltry my luck on the road. After I stop for a drink. Is Marcel still around? Icould go for some tension busting karaoke.â
She takes a small step back, watching Rebekah carefully, crossing her fingers behind her back that Rebekah will call her bluff. Itâs acalculated risk â sheâs reasonably certain that Rebekah doesnât actually hateher, not anymore. And sheâs entirely sure that Klaus would be displeased tofind out that Caroline had been sent away with a target on her back â hence thenot so subtle allusion to making her presence known by popping into The FrenchQuarter. Klaus, paranoid megalomaniac that he was, had eyes and earseverywhere.
She doesnât need to take a second step. Rebekah tosses herhair back, her sigh annoyed, âOh, just come in already. I really hate that youâre not as stupid as youlook.â
Rebekahâs already whirled away so Caroline doesnât try tohide her triumphant smile.
âWeâre going to Rousseauâs. Iâll lend you something lesstragic to wear. Weâll help ourselves to Klausâ bar tab. Another bottle or twoand I might actually find you tolerableâ
Caroline trails behind as they mount the stairs. Shementally pats herself on the back because itâs surprisingly easy to brush offRebekahâs petty jabs. âNot that Iâm not usually always down for a girlâs nightout but Iâd really rather not end up kidnapped.â
âDonât worry. Itâs been ages since Iâve gotten to killanything that could fight back. Might be fun. Your pretty blonde head will beperfectly safe. Itâd be a dagger in my heart when Nik returns if you gotsnatched or tortured on my watch.â
They stop in front of the door Caroline knows is Klausâ andshe hesitates. Rebekahâs smile turns a smidge mean, âDonât pretend like youâvenot enjoyed the comforts of Nikâs room before. I remember having to vacate thepremises to get away from the sounds.â
Itâs on the tip of her tongue to point out that this is anentirely different situation â somehow more intimate, with Klaus gone â but Rebekahâswatching her with a clear air of challenge and Caroline knows that if she asksto be pointed to a guest room sheâll have lost.
And losing wasnât a thing she liked to do.
âGive me a half hour to clean up,â Caroline says, twistingthe doorknob.
Rebekah doesnât reply, turns on her heel and makes her wayback to the staircase. Sheâs got her phone out, muttering in a tone that makesCaroline hope itâs not her sheâs plotting against, distinctly devious and smug.
If they run into Marcel Carolineâs going to have to ask toborrow his phone. Just in case.
adelindschade said: i live where george flyod was shot. this entire time i was scratching my head wondering black gatherings were poised as threats and greeted with riot gear but white folks busting into fucking offices are asked nicely to go home and that they are loved by the president himself??? but blm were the terrorists for starting fires (taped to be actually white instigators?!?!) the pure fuckery has me yelling at my tv. wheres the gas?? wheres the bullets?? oh now you fuckers gonna do shit???!!!!
Yes, I mean the obvious problem is that the cops AGREE WITH THESE KLANSMEN FUCKERS IN THE FIRST PLACE but also realistically speaking, despite all of their bleating about the scary black men coming to loot and riot and IDK rape and murder your children, they know that itâs white supremacist lunatics that WILL actually go home and grab their fucking arms that are enough to supply a small former USSR country and come back and kill them. But as I saw someone say already, there could be no better object lesson in how fucking DEAD ON the BLM protests were all things considered, like yâall just straight up did an informercial demonstration of the difference.
I love you. And your prompts. They are the best. ⤠idea: Caroline + Bonnie outwit Kol in search of a spellbook. He's pissed. But amused. He can play dirty, too. So he calls in his older brother. Who's more than happy to assist. Cue the band trying to weasel the book out of the girls clutches with some fancy smancy words and maybe, if you'd be so kind, begging?
Caroline brushed on some lipstick, examining her makeup in the mirror for a final look. âI still donât understand why Kol thinks he can butter us up with a fancy dinner. Youâre clearly not going to give him the grimoire.â
âOf course not,â Bonnie snorted. She blended her highlighter a bit more, checking Carolineâs hip with her own. âBut Iâm willing to accept bribes to consider it. This restaurant is supposed to be amazing, and I intend to savor every bite.â
Sharing a conspiratorial smile, the girls left the bathroom to find the maĂŽtre dâ waving them over. âYour party has arrived, ladies, if youâd be so kind as to follow me.â He led them back to a more private section of the dining room, which left Caroline a bit ill at ease. In all their dealings with the Mikaelsons, Kol had never been one to seek privacy. Rather, he enjoyed causing quite the commotion at every chance. For him to show some discretion meant-
âHello, love.â
She almost turned around right there. Elijah, even Rebekah, she could deal with. But the last time she and Klaus were in the same room? Well, she had left him sleeping without so much as a âBye, thanks for the sex!â note. Caroline had taken great care to avoid even rumors of the hybrid since, not wanting to get pulled into the confusing spiral of emotions he managed to draw from her. The only reason she was having dinner with his brother was to prevent Bonnie from going alone; the witch could handle Kolâs shenanigans, but she refused to accept the risk.
Maybe she would have had she known Klaus would be there, too.
âAh ah ah,â Kol teased in a singsong voice, his chin rested on his hands propped on the dinner table. âIf youâre not going to give me my book, I can at least make the struggle as annoying for you as it is for me. So I invited Nik along. He had the most interesting reaction, Caroline, when he heard you were involved. Care to share why that is, darling?â
Klaus glared from where he stood. âKol, you will bite your tongue or I will feed it to you.â
Rolling her eyes, Caroline met Bonnieâs gaze for a silent negotiation. She sighed when Bonnie just sat at the table, leaving her no choice but to join her. Klaus tried to push her chair in underneath her, but she smacked his hands away. âWeâre here for the food,â she said in that too sweet voice, which usually led to murder.
A charmed smile lit up his face as he took the seat across from her, those damned dimples just shadowed in the low light. âWhatever you say, sweetheart. I do hope you intend to stay to the end,â he said, an edge of warning in his pleasant tone. âIâd hate for you to miss dessert.â
She scowled as Bonnie laughed beside her, all too aware of how Klaus challenged her - and how Caroline couldnât help but pick up whatever gauntlet heâd thrown. As gracefully as she could manage, she went about covering her lap with the napkin at her place setting.
