@mardu-lesbian -Â Emeriaâs Imperative
So, you talked some about Emrakul moon things. I kind of remember that part in the Eldritch Moon story. Looking at this card, Iâm just left scratching my head. First ability: this doesnât feel like an additional cost, partially because you donât actually âpayâ anything and secondly because it affects all players. Second ability: what? Why would you ever do this? At mythic, for seven mana? Third ability: Odd, but okay, sure, whatever, it is what it is. In the end, Iâm left just...not understanding this card. It feels like itâs trying to meet me halfway, but halfway to another planet, in another solar system, where theyâre playing a different card game.
@mistershinyobject - When Gods Flee
When DO Gods flee? Look, I think you were maybe on the right track - but âsacrifice a Godâ is a power play that you could have used much more effectively here. The wording all around just feels a little awkward, and the flavor text doesnât really add much. Why is this modal, exactly? Mechanically I think that, again, itâs on the right track. For two mana... Hm. Phenax would like a word with you about all this. I donât know, I just feel there was something you were trying to bring together, and Iâm left underwhelmed on both fronts.
@reaperfromtheabyss - Adventurous Prankster
Great concept! But the big part about this card that makes me pause is that this really, really should have been an ETB ability. Itâs not like she only could come out when there were creatures on an adventure or on the battlefield - she could be summoned whenever, and then part of her personality/ability/flavor is that she can disperse things to make them âget lost.âÂ
This isnât just with your card - I feel that actually a majority of cards in this contest fell into this trap, where âif I do then, then this happensâ takes mechanical precedent over âI NEED to do X in order to do Y.â Iâm rambling at this point, but I hope that something comes across here. Oh, last point: I really donât like Sabotage as a keyword. As an ability, yes, keyword, no.
@scienceshaman - rat kindâs tithe
Good card. I suggest working on capitalization and whatnot. This card probably could have been at least a runner-up with polished presentation. Frankly, as-is I still enjoy it. Maybe call this one a retroactive runner-up. You donât have to even have MSE, although it helps. What Iâm curious about is... Hm, should it have âadditionalâ or is just the extra draw there good? Maybe it should have âThenâ before all of these. Like, âDraw a card. Then, if X, draw a card. Then, if X, draw a card.â Thereâs no precedent for it so Iâm curious! Also, what rarity? I assume uncommon but drawing three cards for three mana in black might necessitate this being a rare.
â...all cards from your graveyard,â I believe. But yeah, I grok. For seven mana, I donât want my opponent getting anything, period. I donât feel the âtruenessâ is complete if your opponent gets one last chance to cast something, yâknow? Now Iâm also curious about that second ability, if âthis wayâ as it relates to the additional cost is how the templating works, or if âthis wayâ can only refers to things in its paragraph. âFor each nonland card type exiled with this spell, X.â I dunno with these new precedents.Â
@starch255 - Juliet Capulet.
Firstly, English major represent, the flavorâs funny/resonant, so letâs get that on the table. See my commentary for Reaperâs stuff, because this really could have been an ETB ability. Mechanically, for the rest of it, I kinda like having the bouncing effects for these two creatures, and it makes for some difficult and funny combat. â1W: Exile thisâ looks really, really awkward. Maybe if it sacrificed for an effect?
@suitsongirls - Dromokaâs Protection
So Safe Passage, for WW instead of 2W, at rare, that requires a dragon to as effective? Iâdâve liked a greater benefit. Flavor B+. Good callback to the Dragon mechanic, which I enjoyed.
@thatnewcarsmeli - Infinite Possibilities
â...exile ALL CARDS from your library.â The second ability can just shuffle them back into the library (see Mind Sculptor ult.). The last ability... are you talking about cards exiled with Infinite Possibilities? You need to specify where youâre choosing these cards from. There should be a sentence break between the âcardsâ and âyou,â and there doesnât need to be a comma after âgain.â I donât know if thatâs workable in the rules. Lastly, this is a five-mana Emrakul tutor with protective backup in the form of pitch-spells, so thatâs something to consider. Oh, wait, or Laboratory Maniac too.
@tmstage - Solar Ignition
Iâm on board for this card with everything except âexile a legendary creature or planeswalker you control.â Pitching your hand, sure. Getting your stuff into protective morph shells, awesome. Iâd make it seven, but w/e. Board wipe, nice. But why that specific exile? I dunno, Iâm not seeing that specific flavor. Also, the âifâ clause should be part of the additional cost, I feel, because of the âthis way.â I need to emphasize: this is a creative, fascinating, powerful card. Just needs a little polish!
@wpandp - Harmonic Entropy
I know what youâre getting at, but this card is still a break. Not a flavor bend, a break. One of redâs underlying weaknesses is the inability to destroy target enchantments. And if Iâm running a mono-red deck, Iâll play this, pitch a hybrid card, and go about my merry way. I really canât bridge this gap with you.
Thank you all for your many, many entries this week. I think I have an interesting contest for you Commander folks tomorrow. We shall see! Be well, be cool.
