Teatro Paraguas celebrates the 34th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Many of the artists and fictional characters involved in Teatro Paraguas productions, including the characters in the production of "Cat's Pajamas," benefit from the accommodations the ADA provides. Without the ADA, Teatro Paraguas might not be able to create such inclusive and impactful art. We honor activists like Neil Jacobson and Judy Heumann, who were instrumental in the ADA's passage, and Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins, known for her brave "Capitol Crawl."Â We are grateful for the freedoms the ADA provides and thankful to those who fought for its passage. The ADA prohibits discrimination against people who have a disability OR a history of a disabling condition (e.g. cancer), OR who are perceived as having a disability.
According to the ADA, a disability is a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits the function of at least one bodily organ or the performance of at least one major life activity.
