[ Star Wars - Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu #5 ] AD-W4 is someone weāve seen to have entirely vileĀ motivations for being here, he doesnāt care about anyone else, he only does what he does for credits.Ā And this fight isnāt about him having some ~true understanding of Mace, but instead the context (and this comic is really consistent with having a lot of deliberate themes and reasons for the choices it makes with characters like Drooz, Prosset, and AD-W4) is that this is someone who does not understand the Jedi. This is someone just trying to throw Mace off his game, who is trying to mockĀ what he doesnāt understand (doing the right thing for its own sake, rather than for money or power). The whole point of the flashbacks in showing Mace struggling with his anger at the horrible monstrous things people in the galaxy do is that he didĀ learn to master those feelings.Ā Thatās ultimately what Prossetās fate is about--that true Jedi ever strive toward the light, even when someone flings mud at them like this. And ultimately the point is--when you look at someone like this, who criticizes Mace in aĀ āyou hypocrite, you love the violence and youāre just a religious zealot!ā is coming from someone who is shown to be motivated by terrible things and truly on the side of the wrong AND the entire theme of the comic is showing that Mace hasĀ mastered himself?Ā Then AD-W4 IS ABSOLUTELY, 100% TOTALLY WRONGĀ IN THE NARRATIVE AND THATāS THE POINT. The whole point is that Mace Windu has faith and is balanced to the good. That he is a man of feelings that are deeply tempered with compassion.Ā That the anger he experiences are about the things that are wrong.Ā And that he has grown into a man who will fight not because he enjoys it but because evil must be fought.Ā Thatās literally what this is all about.Ā Evil must be fought.
