Incoming! Photoville 2014, NYC - a photo destination - exhibitions in shipping containers
Incoming! Photoville 2014, NYC – a photo destination – exhibitions in shipping containers
‘River Gambia’ exhibition – Photoville 2013
We are already missing being physically present at Photovillethis year. The phenomenal Brooklyn based unique photo destination is, to date, one of the most enjoyable exhibitions we have ever done . We were astonished at the volume of people who passed through our exhibition shipping container doors over the course of PV 2013 – 1000’s of people, who…

If you're stirred and moved by architecture and photography then you must check out the new website of "photo industry badass" Julie Grahame and her colleagues. This particular look at The White House and Pennsylvania Ave was quite marvelous, feels like we've traveled far into the past, as if we've lived in a neighborhood for 30 years, then we pull out some old pics of when the trees were just planted, when everything was new, memories stirred. Love love...Â
"Last year's Photoville was impressive, and loads of fun, and this year it promises to be even better. There are dozens of talks and workshops, exhibitions and projections, representing 260 artists. I will be presenting the photography of two subjects from social documentary photographer J A Mortram's series Small Town Inertia, as well as co-presenting, along with Stella Kramer: Personal Projects, Long-term Commitment, and appearing, nervously, on the Future of Copyright hosted by Photoville partners Photoshelter. aCurator web designer (who is also my husband) Mike Hartley of bigflannel has courageously decided to open himself up to questions in an hour-long session titled Ask A Web Designer. Another mention must go to Carl Saytor of Luxlab who is not only generously supporting the production of Small Town Inertia, but is hosting a self-curated group show, Rebels. Last for my incestuous list is River Gambia: a 1044 km African Odyssey wherein photographer Jason Florio and producer and curator Helen Jones-Florio take us to the source of the River Gambia and through three countries to where it meets the ocean, in a compelling, crowd-funded expedition.Â
There's loads more happening so if you're remotely local, have a good look through the listings on the Photoville website. Photoville is FREE to the public. Spread the word and we'll see you there! Brooklyn Bridge Park, September 19 - 29, 2013."
Small Town Inertia : New website
After weeks and weeks of hard work by the amazing Mike Hartley the all new Small Town Inertia site is live.
There's a new look and template (Available for you to use for free also), new full screen slideshow for each story & it's multi platform. The personal blog posts have moved and will now be found within my portfolio site which go live in a few weeks time.
I really can't stress and enthuse about this enough, if you yourself need a site built, see Mike, he's managed to 'get' everything I envisioned in my mind, really listened, had genuine patience, designed everything from nothing. He's a magician!... and one of the nicest guys you are ever want to meet.
Mike may be reached via bigflannel.com
All new stories coming soon.
