Does anything happen for you?
The idea that “Everything happens through you; nothing happens from you” challenges the way many of us view life. Often, we think we control our thoughts, emotions, and outcomes. But control is an illusion. Instead, we are participants in a greater flow of life. This perspective asks us to shift from trying to control life to allowing it to move through us with awareness and intention.
When we try to control life, we live reactively. We cling to outcomes, fight circumstances, and let our emotions dominate us. But when we accept that life happens through us, we begin to influence life instead of reacting to it. Influence comes from working inwardly—becoming aware of our limiting beliefs, understanding our emotions, and learning to respond rather than react. This is where real empowerment begins.
The principle also asks us to let go of the ego’s need to take credit for everything. When we act from ego, we think life happens from us—that we are the sole creators of success, joy, or even struggle. But when we step back, we see we are vessels for something larger. Experiences, challenges, and emotions come to teach us lessons. Our job is to observe, learn, and align with what needs to be done, rather than resist or control.
By embracing this perspective, life becomes less about struggle and more about harmony. We wake up from distraction and begin to live intentionally—responding to life with clarity, purpose, and a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us.
