Another senseless violent school shooting but this time in my back yard. In my beloved Providence. At Brown University, where I have spent YEARS visiting and spending time in the area. This school is a mile or two (maybe 3) from the college I work at.
Its final exams. Students are stressed and studying. Now they're stressed and trying to survive a nightmare.
For the past couple years, I've known this was going to come to our tiny state, our beautiful city. I wish I was wrong. I wish we had a government who actually gave a shit about human life instead of their guns.
But here we are. 2 dead, 9 injured. My city in fear and I am beyond enraged.
Please take your "prayers for Brown" and "prayers for Providence" and - semi respectfully - shove them up your ass. Instead, do something useful like advocate and vote for safe gun laws so students and faculty and staff in k-12 school AND higher education AND their communities aren't just waiting for what is really the inevitable - a school shooting.
I'm so tired. I'm so burnt out. I'm so angry.
Get your fucking shit together Americam
