Gjende, Norway.
Gjende is a lake in Norway's Jotunheimen National Park. The long and narrow lake nests between the mountains- a seamless pair that imparts an overwhelming sense of seclusion. The water is clear as you look down at the pebbly bottom, but from the tops of the surrounding mountains it is a crystalline blue- a blue associated with warm trade winds, not near freezing temperatures. Of course, opportunities were siezed, clothes were shed, and bodies were thrust into the 10°C water. Luckily a bottle of Oppland Aquavit was readily available as a post-dip warmer.
