Iâm in love with you.

JUNE 3RD 2009Â
The last day of classes, the beginning of something new â as in moving on from this childhood fantasy or something they both were in right at the moment. Sitting right next to each other just like usual, they whispered sweet melodies of playful jokes and secrets to each other ears, feeling entirely comfortable next to one another, just like all those days where theyâd spend together with his heart almost leaping right out of his chest and her remaining as oblivious as ever.Â
With everyone bidding their goodbyes to their friends, the two of them seemed to be glued to each other, not leaving each othersâ sides for obvious reason; they needed to spend their last day together as much as possible.
Despite the fact that they could possibly meet up in the future, things wouldnât be the same, she wouldnât have her best mate by her side â and that was something that saddened her every time sheâd spare a moment to think about it.Â
Brown optics swept across the place, she sank her teeth on her bottom lip at the never-ending crowd, there was no way in hell the two of them could have some privacy in situation like this. Without hesitation, she grabbed him by his wrist and, practically, dragged him towards their favourite spot.
As soon as they were isolated from everyone else, she didnât let go of his hand, instead, with her free hand, she dug into the front pocket of her uniform, placing a star charm in his palm before closing it with her hand.Â
"My name is Aster, it means star. Keep that and when weâre not right next to each other, think of me, okay? Iâll miss hanging out with you everyday."
It almost sounded like a love confession, but no, she wasnât heading that way, yet she couldnât help but notice the change in his expression. The cheeky smile had faded as though he had something to say but was reluctant on actually saying it. Clueless, per usual, she merely tipped her head to the side, watching him struggle with his thoughts. She would know, two people who hang out with each other every day, such expression could be easily read.Â
"Aster."
"Mhm?"Â
"Iâm in love with you â Iâve always been in love with you and Iâm sorry."Â
"Oh well I love you toâ what?"
For a moment, she thought she misheard what he was saying, completely misinterpreting his words into something else, as words of endearment they thrown at each other each time they joked around, with their cheesy words and cheeky smiles, but none of that existed right at the moment. The atmosphere felt a whole lot darker than it was supposed to be. Why wouldnât they part ways in joy? Now, she was left with guilt burdened into her head, for not returning his feelings.Â
"I love you, but not that way. Iâve never looked at you that way and why?" Her question sounded too insensitive and she knew, but she couldnât help her curiosity. Why was he in love with her in the first place? Didnât she draw the line clearly enough for him? They were friends, friends and nothing more. Without saying a word, she looked down at her feet, hair falling like curtains in front of her face. And in moments like this, she could be cold as ice â who would have thought, right?Â
"You know Iâm in love with him. Stop."
