Today I drove over the Sydney Harbor Bridge. I hadn't really intended to - I was just trying to get from Coogee to Ryde in time for church - but my GPS Karen thought that was the easiest route to the north shore. I've never driven in a proper city before, so I was ever so slightly terrified of driving through the CBD. But the Sunday traffic was pretty relaxed, and in the end my biggest worry was the soreness in my muscles from rock climbing on Friday. It made changing gears awkward and painful. Despite the fact that most of my brain was paying attention to Karen's directions I couldn't help feeling a thrill of excitement as I drove over the bridge. No-one else was in the car with me, and I was going to meet a group of people wholly unconnected with anyone else in my acquaintance. I'm in Sydney, I live here now. It feels good.
