#accept change

It is a RETELLING. They are taking the plot, the setting, the characters and the themes that the first book poses, and using them to tell to create a NEW story. Something modern, something fresh. 

This expectation that characters, dynamics, and plot beats need to be the exact same is just so irritating to me. I am EXCITED to see what AMC does with the characters, even if it’s somewhat inaccurate to the novel. Maybe I am biased because it seems from the trailers they are doubling down on some of my favorite parts of the book like Louis’s religious trauma, but I really think that more people in the fandom need to allow themselves to be open to change. Allow yourself to be excited for the new directions the series is going, and REMEMBER: 

The greatest gift you can give your children is to teach them to embrace change, not to fear it or resist it, because it will surely come.  

One of the biggest problems older generations face is adjusting to change, and nearly each pontificates about the good ol’ days that never really were and rails endlessly about how dumb younger generations are and how everything’s going to hell when in all reality their own parents and grandparents said the same things about them and the state of the world back in the day.

Q: Words that you want to say to those that have been hurt by their looks?

So for anyone who didn't already know, the new Rocko's Modern Life movie on Netflix is the bomb. It still resembles the original cartoon, has some of the same kind of jokes so you don't feel like it changed too much, and even has an awesome trans storyline. When she first comes out to Rocko and his friends, they're cool with it. Her dad freaks out at first, saying he has a son, not a daughter, but then is reminded that she is still his baby and he comes around so they can have this lovely little family reunion. And they address how important it is to embrace change, even if it seems scary at first.
