Read these books and go travel
With graduation time is approaching, and many high school students and college students undecided about life after school, the option of taking a sabbatical to travel is becoming increasingly popular. Traveling cross-country or continent can be a revealing experience, especially for those of us who have had the minimum travel time. Therefore, if you decide to take year off and go take my advice and read these novels to get an idea of what a long time on a road trip is like. If you sit and read some of these books, it just might get the error to jump in your car and drive up all data Patagonia places. The first thing to read is Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck's immortal. This story follows Steinbeck after he decides to travel around the perimeter of the country in his truck and his faithful companion dog, Charley. This is after he has become world famous as one of the best authors ever. His story takes him to remote locations-all the way, that most tourists would never think to stop and see. It hangs with the truckers, diners eat the old-fashioned, and even help a few fellow travelers on the road. It delves into the invisible life of people living in different parts of the country and experience in capturing this makes Travels with Charley as a masterpiece. This book is a good read for anyone looking to spend the time alone on the road. Get good advice and lots of ideas.Another solo adventure can be found in Paul Theroux The Old Patagonian Express. This is a must read for anyone who wants to push the boundaries of your travel experience. It follows Theroux as he boards a train in Boston, and comes at the end of Argentina's Patagonia months later. His story takes you through the Americas and chronicles each stop on the road. He makes a point to visit all the countries along the route of the railway, with the exception of Nicaragua, who was in a state of shock. This book definitely makes you want to travel to Central and South America and see countries like Costa Rica, Peru, and places like Machu Picchu and Buenos Aires. If you are bold you might be able to follow in his footsteps, but deliberately takes the road less traveled. In many cases Theroux could have flown to every destination, but the train makes it more of a hardened traveler. Read the Old Patagonian Express and error to jump on a train to anywhere. The latest book is due out Alan Weisbecker In Search of Captain Zero. Alan Weisbecker leaves Long Island in a desperate search to find her best friend long lost deep in the rainforest of Costa Rica. On his way through Central America in a vehicle that travels all purposes, stops at a series of large waves, spots and catches waves are phenomenal. He is approached by bandits in the forest, is almost caught in a revolution in El Salvador, and finds his friend deep in the midst of addiction. This book should be read by anyone who wants to go out on a surf trip, as their own descriptions and details of many of the surf spots to visit along way. With graduation comes a lot of decisions. If you decide to defer a year before going to college or the real world, read these three books to get some motivation to travel and see the world. If you can not be convinced by these authors, who may travel is not for you.
