Week 7: Academic Stalking
To begin this weeks tumtue assignment i first had to find my academic network. My Major is Forensic Science Chemistry Track.
I belong to the College of Science since i am pursuing a forensics major.
My department would be the Chemistry department.
The contact information displayed below is the associate dean for student programming and the program advisor for forensic science students. She is the main person to contact if we need advising, schedule changes, etc. We can choose to contact Ms. Brenda Torres if there is any issues related to chemistry courses or labs.
Now that i have formed my academic network it helps to show me a new door that has opened and presented to me limited less possibilities. Most of this information i have found will benefit me in the future so that i have the resources i need to finish my bachelors degree.
The next section deals with my primary research and finding potential scholars that may allow me to interview them within the next couple of weeks. I search through the UTEP faculty profiles and found 3 possible scholars to interview. The contact information for each scholar was displayed with their picture however none of my scholars had a bio about themselves.
My first choice is Dr. Smith who is a professor here at UTEP he teaches Criminal Justice and he does research and write about topics at the intersection of policing, law, and public policy. Dr. Smith has a Ph.D. in Justice studies from Arizona State University. This fits my research interest because i hope to learn about the polices for women in the army, even if Dr.Smith cant give me much information about the military policies he may have a couple of sources that can assist me with this research question.
My second source is LTC James K. Lee who is a professor of Military Science here at UTEP. He helps run the ROTC program here on campus. Mr.Lee would be a perfect scholar to interview for my research because he works with females who are currently in the ROTC program and can tell me about his and their experiences. He may also be able to inform me about women policies or training programs that are used to prepare female soldiers.
My 3rd and final scholar that i choose is CPT Patrice L. Ingram. She is an assistant military professor, she has taught a couple of courses on campus such as intro to basic military skills. She is also another captain that helps the ROTC program here at UTEP. I believe that Ms.Ingram is an ideal scholar to interview because not only can she give me her perspective as a female solider but she can also tell me about her students experiences in ROTC.
As i am conducting research i find it critical to not only get a males perspective of my semester topic but as well as the female perspective. After all my semester topic is diversity of women in the military so my three sources could potentially give me helpful information that i will use in my research paper. Now my tumblr post is all done and i cant help but feel like this:
