penny of course has her mom and daughter. kid’s dad isn’t in the picture; he was very not great and they split up before penny found out she was pregnant. she has the support system to be a pretty good single mom and she’s never once regretted keeping her daughter

tim doesn’t have any siblings, but he’s from one of those families where immediate and extended family are basically the same and has a lot of cousins that might as well be siblings. he doesn’t see his family much anymore bc they all still live in nz but he talks to them often and tries to visit when he can. somehow he gives me both “happily single w/ no interest in a relationship” and “has a spouse and is effectively married but they technically aren’t married bc they don’t really believe in it” energy and im not sure which i want to go with

billie’s family i don’t think could be any less notable. there’s nothing wrong with them, they’re loving and supportive of her, but she’s not very close to them the way tim and penny are close to their families. they live a few states away and she’s bad at maintaining communication, so she doesn’t talk to them much

frances is a youngest child. like such a youngest child. she has one older sister and they’re the most disney channel ass sisters you’ve ever seen. their mom died when she was very young (possibly in childbirth w/ her im undecided) so she was raised entirely by her dad. he is the textbook Girl Dad, he loves his daughters more than anything and actually was the one to first get frances into theater

everyone seems to agree conrad is from a big family and they’re absolutely right. i feel like he’s the oldest, he has three younger sisters (oldest is like a high school senior/college freshman, youngest is in middle school) and they’re all very protective of each other. really supportive parents too, maybe they even frequent zomburger to see him and they’re glad he has such a fulfilling life with such good friends (though it took them a while to warm up to cesare)

i feel like im about to show how painfully white i am but here we go— allen’s parents and grandparents emigrated from korea when his parents were kids/teens and allen himself was born in the us. he’s an only child. his parents love him to death and want the best for him; don’t fully understand why he why he chose theater over something more “practical”, and they don’t fully understand the queer stuff, but they’re really trying (fr trying not “we’re trying but it’s just so hard for us”) (that’s not to say zomburger’s salary doesn’t make it easier). his mom is the kinda stereotypical type who will send him home from family gatherings with like ten pounds of kimchi that he ends up giving most of to frances

uh steve obv has his mom and i think probably another parent as well, they were very supportive of his jellicle dreams and always encouraged him to just do his best. i imagine his banishment hurt them a lot, im not particularly interested rn in mathing out whether or not his mom would still be alive by the time he resurfaced but either way he really misses her
