also in general i get Uncomfortable about that sort of discourse because so many of my friends who are abuse survivors and also, Me, have been called apologists for liking or iding with the Wrong Characters :’)
the thing about g*mzees treatment in hs canon is that “got manipulated by adults i trusted and emotionally relied on at a time when i was feeling very alone and friendless” is a real thing that has happened to us in this lifetime
also wrt parent trauma I get it. sometimes that happens even if yr parents were there for you and weren't abusive but circumstances made some things happen and made some things not happen. & it feels Rlly Bad when you feel fucked up line that but can't blame it on anybody bc it wasn't anybody's fault.
mmmm yep. i know @mercy-misrule has talked about this before but sometimes being hurt by someone isnt the same as being abused by them and i think a lot of discussions on tumblr dont really make that distinction? but its a complicated topic
when someone says “i wont have sex with you unless you lose weight” its not a matter of the person not wanting sex, its about belittling the fat person + attempting to coerce them into weight loss + forcing control over their body + asserting that they are undesirable
its not “the fat person is entitled to sex” ffs

LIKE i do really like seeing jaspers Issues explored and i get why other survivors would rather just Not but for me it comes back to the whole “your abuser still abused you even if they are mentally ill/a survivor/suffering in their own right and that doesnt justify their behavior” which is sth very painful and triggery to think about wrt my irl abusers but jasper is enough removed from them in my mind to be a way for me to Examine that through character development
every time i see that post thats like “i only like Health, Happy ships and people who dont are Abuse Supporters” i get really bitter bc as an irl mentally ill survivor thinking about painful Bad ships is really cathartic
