Meet the Nauplith! Nauplith are the Diplomat species of Absolute Darkspore, originating from the Planet Argul, a desert planet known for its intense rainstorms every century. They are diplomats because they have learned to negotiate amongst themselves for resources that cannot be easily found on their home planet, being the quickest to unite under one group.
they're the largest of my sophonts, standing at an average of 7 feet tall at their pseudohip (their anatomy is wildly different from my other sophonts), which is the top of their leg between their two pairs of arms and their rear pair of legs, and can lift up to 2.5 times their own body weight. they will also eat pretty much anything of sustenance, but they prefer food their mouthparts can chew/swallow easily.
their favorite food is "crunch-mush" which is basically a bunch of tiny eggs and larvae from the shrimplike animals of their homeworld put into a cup- the texture of which can be described as slightly gritty but also wet.
nauplith eggs can survive in a state of suspended animation for many years, and due to them being so tiny they get lost easily. they will often hatch during rainstorms a long time after their parents perished, leaving them orphans. to combat this, nauplith send out search parties to look for hatchlings to put up for adoption- though there are cases of hatchlings banding together to survive and turning "feral".
