Teak’s is very simple: being destitute.

Not simply being poor, which would be the easy interpretation since the Middletons are wealthy, but being impoverished to a point of homelessness and complete lack of safety and security. 

SWEET ROMANTICISM.

“I think I’ve got a great voice. I used to do intro narration for one of my friends’ videos for her personal website where she’d wear a bunch of jewelry and strip down till she wasn’t wearing anything else.”

“Oh, hey! I didn’t see you there. Things can get a little distracting on this island. There’s always something going on! 

What’s that? What kinds of things happen on this island? Jeez, it’s easier to show you. Why don’t you come along with me and find out? Yeeeeah, c’mon, don’t worry about it, I don’t mind. I like the company. Just don’t tell anybody that I have the only cans of airplane soda that exist and we’ll get along fine. Who would have thought I’d be so happy for a can of Fresca, huh?

Anyhow, I sleep right here, in this tent. It’s pretty good, although sometimes I can hear other people wandering around. Which is okay, I mean I’ve been to Thailand and slept on the beach and nobody actually goes to sleep on the beach in Thailand, you just say you’re sleeping there. But if you make too much noise there’s always a chance that like, that real uptight chick @beatricewalshashore or that other uptight chick except French @aureliemarchand might yell at you, so y’know, shhhh.

I like to have a nice splash when I wake up, so I take a quick cardio run past where @tamyrawilliams has her secret tool stash -- don’t tell anyone I told you! -- and there’s a nice little rock pool, see? Get some exercise, get a wash, it’s all good. 

After that, obviously, comes food! Now I could try and scout the jungle but I’d rather not, so I like to head up to the farm and collect whatever’s put out for people to take. Although let’s avoid that side of the building because I can see @akbartheolder there and he gets sort of aggro for no reason. His tan’s looking great though. Oh look, papayas! They’re full of papain. Papaya, papain, papaya, papai-- it’s from The Simpsons. Come on, you gotta know The Simpsons? Jeez. Anyhow it’s pretty easy to go keto here. Or low-carb. Whichever. 

Aaaaaaand then you’ve pretty much got the whole day open until it’s time for tent sweet tent again at night. I like to go for a swim, then go for a walk, and hopefully meet some interesting people with interesting skills. Like @iyazakbar, who’s the doctor around here and also has mad sewing ability and crazy thick hair, or @calliope-warren, who ... well I haven’t figured out her special thing yet, but I’m sure she’s got one. Anybody who looks so hot has to have something cool they’re good at. 

I think that’s probably the key to managing, huh? You find your thing and then everybody knows you for it. 

Casually, the same way you love to breathe

OOC: Teak was a fairly ordinary child until he got to an age -- around 8 or 9 -- where he realized his parents had him very young, and didn’t really know what they were doing. From that point, he became much more canny, deciding that he needed to look out for himself, and began strategizing how he could a) get attention from outside sources and b) get what he wanted.

He doesn’t look back on his childhood with anything but a vague dissatisfaction; Teak was happiest when his parents died and he got to live with his grandfather when he was 15.
