1. smut. i mean, i’ve written sex. like, the vague descriptions of they’re naked, they’re kissing, they’re saying things to each other - but, i’ve never described a penis for the reader. it just doesn’t happen, and that’s totally on purpose. my readers know what a penis looks like, anyway.

2. ship before plot - this is strange, i know. i write fic for the ships (bellarke, sheith, memori probably) - but i don’t like having no plot driving the characters together (not to say i haven’t written a few where it’s just 2000 words of them meeting or whatever), and i don’t like the ship taking up the entire story. i like writing stories not writing ships - and i didn’t realise this was really a thing of mine until a recent sheith fic where i had this overarching plot behind it. my fics have a story behind them. bellamy wants to keep his orphanage up and running. clarke wants to be a musician. shiro wants to change altea and take down the mayor in his parkour crime gang.

3. i don’t ever limit the comedy. basically i’ve already run out of points, but i read a lot of fics that are just entertaining in the sense the characters start dating - and it’s 5 fucking k. i don’t need that. i need entertainment and i like my awful sense of humour shining through. i will absolutely write that soulmate au that’s supposed to be meaningful and beautiful, where the drawings on your skin appear on the other person’s, and make it about dicks drawn on foreheads. just fuckin watch me.

4. long ass fics with a small time frame. i’ve read plenty of super long fics that take place over a month, and i just can’t write them myself. in my two 60k fics, one of them takes place over 8 years or so, and the other 13. i like writing little snapshots of their lives and coming back to it later on. i just can’t figure out how to do it otherwise - i get bored of the story.

5. i try not to use overused tropes. i don’t think i’ve ever written a coffeeshop au, a we’ve-got-to-share-a-bed, arranged marriage, secret relationship, fake relationship au. i’m not saying they’re bad, but there’s no way in which i can write it without feeling like i’m taking other people’s ideas. it’s the same reason i try not to do the same soulmate aus that my friends have written unless i have a distinctly different idea, i’ve never written that street racers fic because i read lana’s and i’d just want to plagiarise, that mermaid fic because i’d totally just write the same thing as chash. if i’m writing a fic, i want it to be something i haven’t read somewhere else, so i know it’s my idea and not like any of the others i’ve read.

How old are you? 18

What’s your current job? I'm super unemployed because I’m lazy, but I do part time convention work at Christian Conventions.

What are you talented at? I’m not sure - I can write, sort of paint/draw. Stuff like that.

What’s a big goal you are working toward? I don’t necessarily have one. I guess getting my bachelors degree. But also deciding what I want to do with the rest of my life. 

What’s your aesthetic? Leather jackets, blood red nails, undercuts and rings on all my fingers. But also joggers and staying in bed all day, pyjamas and being wrapped in blankets. Chocolate fountains and cooking marshmallows against a fire, stars and night skies and summer days and running across grass in bare feet. Old books pressed against new ones, ordered by genre and colour, with quotes underlined and thoughts written in the margins. Laughing and laughing and laughing.

Do you collect anything? I don’t really anymore, but I have a collection of beanie babies (now stored away in a box), VW Campervan ornaments and money boxes and clothes and photo frames. Also, old-looking classics that I line along my bookshelves to make it look as if I read them, but in all honesty I never plan to.

What’s a topic you always talk about? I have so many. I don’t like to know a lot about one thing, but a little about everything. 

What’s a pet peeve of yours? My mother looking upset when I get my undercut reshaved or paint my nails black, as if she believes she has some authority over the way I look.

Good advice to give? Do whatever the hell you want. Stop thinking about it and just do it. There is no reason to stay in a situation that doesn’t bring you joy if you can help it. Always aim for your ultimate happiness. Stop thinking about it and just do it.

Fahrenheit 451: Books you would throw into a fire?

So, on a whole I’m against burning books - partly because of, you know, that big ass war we had, but also because I think about how I would feel if someone burnt my book and that feels shitty. BUT, if I were going to dispose of books in a rude way, I’d choose Every Exquisite Thing by Matthew Quick and Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

my god I WISH I had pets! I can’t have any right now because I’m in university accommodation, but me and my housemates are planning on getting fish next year. In the past though I’ve had two goldfish (Luna and Luna 2) and a rabbit (Scamper)!
