1) Tyler has very little direct knowledge of the superhero genre. What she does know is mainly information gained through cultural osmosis. She has vague memories of watching superhero cartoons, but none that really stuck with her. As for the movies, she’s caught a couple while channel surfing late at night, but hasn’t made any real effort to keep up with them.

A huge part of why she hated using them as a child was because she could feel that something was wrong. She was pushing against a barrier that hurt to touch. Had things been left alone, her powers would have grown as she did, letting her adapt and learn how to manage them safely. She would have had the chance to learn self-control instead of self-loathing. All that dulling them did was turn her into a ticking time bomb.

There are SO MANY THINGS, but let’s go with her time with the coven. It's partially because TRAUMATISED AF, but she also has this slightly paranoid fear that the coven will somehow know if she talks about them. She can barely be convinced to even acknowledge those five years out loud, getting her to actually talk about what was done to her during that time is next to impossible. She won't even open up about it properly with Mel and Eli, who she'd usually talk to about pretty much anything.

Depends on the context, and who the praise is coming from. In the main verse timeline, Tyler does not like herself. It’s a problem, and someone should really get this girl into therapy. Then get her therapist a therapist, because they’ll definitely need it after dealing with her. ☠️ Even when she’s given praise related to skills that she’s confident in, her immediate reaction 90% of the time is to make a joke out of it.

“Pfft, duh, I know I’m awesome.”

People she’s close to are far more likely to get a genuine reaction and actual acceptance of praise, but the chances are still low. Chances that she’ll accept it from someone who isn’t close to are even lower.
