My mum sang and my brother too. I started singing my own songs about the age of 13 or 14 I guess? At first, my voice surprised me (and others) as it was/is fairly androgynous sounding. But I grew to get used to it and like it. Some people are into it. As far as I can tell the people who run Norman Records who I often buy records from absolutely hate my voice and found this album unbearable. Won't be giving them my cash anymore!

What Pat, Charles and myself get out of playing with Alexis is really good unpretentious songwriting which gives a context for the playing - something that can be missing from a lot of improvising situations. And it's rare to have someone who can write such structurally straightforward songs but is open to them being destabilised and pushed around.

About Group - All is not lost - Between the Walls (2013)
“The dramatic images were selected by the Swedish director and artist Henrik Håkansson from his own project, “Aug. 11, 2012 Symptoms Of The Universe Studies (6min 29 Sec)”, that focuses on two individual black alder trees–already slated for destruction–being torn apart in footage that was taken from different angles and at contrasting speeds. Spliced in with this is slow-motion film of butterflies in flight that was shot by Håkansson at high frame rates of 4000-7000 per second.” via Nowness
