It was hard for Shaun to believe his eyes, as fatuous as it seemed to have Desmond Miles â more so known as Subject Seventeen â standing in front of him, in his usual snow white hoodie, the eagle spread on the back. It wasnât that he hadnât seen the man in years, or that they were arguing over another life, but it was the fact that last Shaun had heard of Desmond Miles, he had been a specimen on Abstergoâs table.
Dissected. Poked at. Fun things.
But instead, heâs here, his arms crossed and God, Shaun has not clue what to think. He must either be mental, or Abstergoâs playing a trick on him. Infiltrating what they have left of the Assassins. Shaun has too much of a fight left in him, after seeing the research on Desmond in Abstergoâs files. He remembers Rebecca holding his shoulders, her touch soft as she comforted him and told him that she was sorry. Not that she had anything to be sorry for.
As far as Shaun was concerned, it was Lucyâs fault.
Not that he ever got to voice it. Or that he would. Itâs not respectful to the dead. Not that Shaun cared much about respect when it came to traitorous Templars.
His voice is a little shaky, a wavering tone as he speaks softly, wondering if his own words are going to betray him. âDonât go. Please donât go. You justâ you just got here. Why stop by and if youâre just going to bugger off?â Shaun arises from his seat, the tremors in his hands not quite visible as he shoves them in his pocket. Even if this isnât Desmond, Shaun needs to be sure. Needs to be absolutely sure.
