november 15, 1976Ā
In the late afternoon of November 15th, the nearby Windmere Village erupted into a cacophony of spells being cast and people shouting and screaming. It seems there was an attack planned on the Village, but the Order caught wind, and a large fight broke out instead. The fight lasted well into the night, longer than anyone expected, and drew not only most of the Order, but a majority of Aurors to the scene as well.
Due to the length of the fighting, many were injured, though luckily none were civilians. Among the injured Order were Martin McDougall and Diajonnea Tharron, and among the injured Death Eaters were Ivan and Anastasia Volkova. Several on both sides were taken into custody by Aurors.
One lay dead in the street after attempting to flee from custody. Aurors were forced with no other decision as the masked Death Eater continued hurling unforgivable curses their way. Once struck with the killing curse, Aurors removed the mask to find Alexander Avery behind it.

As the night began and the fighting came to a close, it became apparent that something was wrong. The fighting in Windmere had garnered the attention of nearly all Aurors and Order members.
Azkaban was essentially free reign.Ā
While Windmere served as a loud distraction, several followers of Lord Voldemort managed to break several of their fellow Death Eaters out of Azkaban. Samuel Cancel, Ravena Ridgewood, and Maxence Kroe, all well known to be some of the worst among You-Know-Whoās followers, have broken free. No one knows their whereabouts.
The Ministry has managed to quickly cover up news of the escape. Nowhere official will it ever say what occurred on this night. But⦠rumors quickly spread, do they not?
Headmaster Dumbledore is one of few to hear official news from Minister Minchin on the escape, due to the nature of the note that was slipped under his door only a day ago. Were the escapees nearby? Did they have plans involving Hogwarts?
The safest thing for Hogwarts to do, for the time being, is keep all students in their dormitories. For the remainder of the night, until the escapees are caught (as they surely will be, right?), all Hogwarts students are to remain in their respective house common rooms. There will be no leaving under any circumstances, punishable by suspension.
