                  a roll of his eyes, flipping a page of                   the book that’s set in his lap. besides,                   if his underwear was anywhere else it’d                   probably be at his friend’s –

        he’s got an eyebrow quirked so COMICALLY         it’s a miracle he’s being taken as seriously as         he is & he perches himself on the arm of the         sofa his brother is lounging on.

                 “ i keep track of them PLENTY & you should                    be a little more grateful, y’know. i provide this                    roof over your head, you could at least be                    POLITE. “

         “ since when do i care about anyone            else’s happiness but my own ? “

                     it’s sarcastic, simply parroting the apparently                      popular opinion of his character. it burned him                      more than he’d let on, but thankfully he’s become                      more than adept at keeping his opinions to himself.

          “ — since ALWAYS. “

                         she GETS the sarcasm but she’s electing to ignore it.                          her baby cousin is much too bitter for his age & she’s                          not going to ENCOURAGE it. slipping into a chair                          beside him, she plucks a biscuit from the plate.

       “ it’s nothing, sirius. i’m fine. “

                         nothing he couldn’t cover up, anyway.                          the momentary flinch had been a temporary                          lapse of character, but he’d move past that.                          the inevitable bruises peppered along his ribs                          would fade with time like anything else.

                    it’s not often now that sirius adopts the STERN older                     brother tone but he’s not letting this one go. a  hand                     stays firmly at the smaller’s shoulder as if to keep                     him from running away.

ACCEPTING

sirius wants out but it’s obviously not that easy; though, as long as he doesn’t have to participate in the more violent activities, all he cares about is being able to live his own life & with whatever antics he gets into only working to further the simpler, more innocent facade, the family leaves him to his own devices. he makes his own cash on top of the family funds through modelling ( ‘because the jobs come to him’ ) & maybe he’s working on some music on the side.
