Can you give me Blossomchild lore dump
also if there’s a creature named 18 then what about the ones before 18?
get ready everyone, this is gonna take a while!!! ^-^
THE BLOSSOMCHILD is the reincarnation of the star that once inhabited the area BLOOM takes place in. (For simplicity’s sake, I will from now on refer to the past star as “OWARI” and the present star as “HARBINGER”.) They have a mission to reclaim their place in the sky after HARBINGER began to dim much, much faster than normal stars would. This dimming was already basically predestined, since HARBINGER was raised up to godhood after merely being a simple bug all her life. However, it was sped up exponentially as the realities of practical immortality began to be clear to her, in the form of her beloved dying. Anyways, sometime after the dark ages began, Owari, reincarnated as the Blossomchild, fell back down in one last attempt to salvage what remained of the world she loved so much.
Now, I can’t exactly say what the Blossomchild did while it was traveling through the world, nor how its journey ended, because it would kinda. Spoil some stuff (everything) about the project I’m working on that involves BLOOM. HOWEVER!!! I CAN give you details on their anatomy!!!
Most of their design is simple, however their tail sticks out due to it seemingly being a complete inverse of what they embody!! But why???
As a creature made entirely of starlight, the Blossomchild would never be able to be sent down to the world without some kind of tether. So, OWARI imbued her vessel with a small amount of Darkness! Being the inverse of starlight, it all balanced out in the middle to allow Blossomchild to safely be created in the physical world. “BUT WHY A CLOVER???” Clovers in BLOOM, as an inverse to lotuses, symbolize darkness. This is because of a very simple thing!!!
Starlight is characterized by sharp, pointed edges. This forms matter into that familiar sparkle shape! This is because, with light, everything becomes clearer and “sharper”. Meanwhile, darkness is characterized by rounded, soft edges. Without light, everything melds together into a blobby mess, with no clear points or edges.
SO!!! Lotuses and lotus-like things naturally form wherever starlight is concentrated, while clovers and other rounded things form wherever darkness is concentrated.
AS FOR your question about 18!!! There aren’t really any!!
In the world of BLOOM, most creatures are named with numbers. Here’s the system i use!!!
first up, names are used to show age! The more decimal points a name has, the younger a creature is. For example:
0.X = adolescent/young adult
There’s also last names!!! If a creature shares a name with another, then they will be refered to with their first AND last name! Last names use letters, so for example there’s a character named 1.9-JC. This implies that A: 1.9-JC isn’t fully grown and B: 1.9-JC Belongs to the JC family.
Then, social ranks come into play. The higher in society you are, the lower your number will be. This comes from the fact that creatures that are more respected are more likely to force others to just change their names whenever they have children, so that their child can have the “more respectable” name.
HOWEVER!!! This system isn’t the same in all cultures. While it’s widely accepted in society on the surface (I.E. Kincats, Squals/Squalings, Bugs of the citadel, etc) It’s much different underground! Wirdents are often named after the role they fulfill in their work, paired with their coloihr! For example: a red wirdent tasked with the expansion of AYEI earns themself the name Builder-red.
Now, there’s also the living plants (like 18!) in the gardens of mount .3! They don’t follow strict naming conventions, instead mimicking the creatures that tend to them. For example, 18 mimicked the creatures using the numeric naming conventions, while a creature named “Blossom” might have learned language from other species and decided to refer to itself as its favorite word!
Now we get into the timeline!!! Far before HARBINGER’s light dimmed, Flashbugs and bugs of the citadel were completely separated from all other civilizations. So, Flashbugs named themselves their species paired with their most defining trait, or favorite thing! So, as an example, a flashbug in BLOOM has the name Flash~Fruit. This is because they are a basic flashbug (not part of a specific subspecies) and they mainly consume fruit! Meanwhile, another flashbug could be named Zap~fight for being part of the Zapbug subspecies and enjoying battle with other creatures. Meanwhile, the bugs of the citadel named their children based off of much more “human-like” methods, such as where they were born, a defining trait, or their parent’s names!
lastly, how are creations named!?
Well, there’s one massive example of creatures creating new life. And it’s the squalings!!! Squalings were created to kinda just see if creating new life was possible, so there were a LOT of mistakes made along the way!! Most of them weren’t seen as exactly equal to their creators, and so they were given long, more-like-IDs names. For example, a name like 2577882 was completely plausible! Later on, squalings were better integrated into Kincat society and thus adopted their naming conventions :)
THANKS FOR READING ALL OF THAT!!! ^-^
