🏳️⚧️ TOMORROW March 12th at 2:00 PM the Wisconsin Assembly Committee on Health, Aging and Long-Term Care will meet at 2 E Main St, Madison, WI 53702 to hear another bill targeting transgender kids. 🏳️⚧️
If passed, AB 104 will prohibit "health care providers from engaging in, causing the engagement in, or making referrals for, certain medical intervention practices upon an individual under 18 years of age if done for the purpose of changing the minor’s body to correspond to a sex that is discordant with the minor’s biological sex."
Included in these medical intervention practices are: prescribing puberty-blocking drugs, prescribing testosterone or other androgens to "biological females", prescribing estrogen to "biological males", and removing any other healthy or nondiseased body part or tissue. Any health care provider found to have violated this new law will have their license or certificate revoked.
AB 104 expressly states that intersex genital mutilation shall not be prohibited, or as it is described in this bill, "a health care provider providing a service in accordance with a good faith medical decision of a parent or guardian of a minor born with a medically verifiable genetic disorder of sex development."

Representative Robyn Vining has stated, "Legislative Republicans are again short-noticing an anti-equality bill, this time gender affirming care. This is wholly unprofessional and unstatesmanlike to hold this notice secret until a day before the hearing. People deserve to be able to set their schedules to go to the Capitol and testify to defend their rights!"
This will be a public hearing, which means members of the general public will be allowed to speak. Written testimony will not be read aloud, but will be included in the packet that is handed out to legislators.
