Aauya: The Living Ship (+ Facts)
Regarding ENDGAME, Lady has no functional âsoulâ (or whatever may be considered a soul in ENDGAME), but she does have a heart.
She turned it into a space ship.
It was her first job as a Playerâs apprentice... âCreate a VESSELâ she was told. So her, being the pirate she was, created A LIVING SHIP. Aauya (Hu-yah), or âBloody Heartâ / âBlood of the Godsâ in Aaonean (ho-NAY-an, a Marinian language). It is a dragon that is and is not a real living creature. IT IS A SHIP first and foremost, however it is also a LIVING BEING that can and will follow her wherever she is. It breathes. It bleeds. It moves. Should Lady be separated from it for too long, or Lady begin to lose what makes her herself, it begins to turn from a deep vibrant red to a sickly pale. At one point, it almost died due to the separation it felt from her (as she was stuck in Diktownâs hell bubble for eons), and wouldâve taken her entire crew with it (as they were on board at the time).
Not much is known about what would happen should Aauya die, however I have a sinking suspicion it would be a symbolic death for the complete loss of Ladyetteâs Self, which would have dire consequences on The Game and her status as a Player-to-be should it ever happen. Her Self requires a certain amount of Humanity to function fully, and thus, should she lose that Humanity or just her Self in general, she would become no better than Abrayarmaa. To lose oneâs Self is to gain the ability to be cruel and wicked, to destroy life without thinking of it as life. To lose oneâs Self is to become the antithesis of oneâs Self, to lose oneâs humanity, empathy, morality - all sorts of things in one go.
At least, thatâs what it would mean for Lady. The loss of Self is very personal and individual, although for Players does tend to lend to their outlook on the Game. For a Player or Apprentice to lose oneâs Self means they see others as just Pieces in a Game meant to be played and toyed with, and that is the last thing Ladyette wants to do.
Keeping Aauya alive and safe, therefore, is one of Ladyâs top priorities. The only blessing is that most people donât know her ship is her heart, and therefore donât go after the ship or any of the mysterious little dragons she carries on her person. A treasure that slips right under the noses of just about everyone around her.
--- Random Aauya/Ladyette Facts ---
Aauya only truly responds in kind to Ladyette. She has her own mind and her own desires, but they all align with Ladyetteâs. Her pulse runs as one with Ladyetteâs magic and the two are always in sync, both movement and motivation wise. Aauya will follow The Fearmonger, Dumpling, and Names into battle, as well as find them first if she cannot find Ladyette, but she will not always obey them and can often behave as if an impudent or spoiled child, if not a feral beast.
The crew Aauya harbors are numerous (she is larger than a merchant frigate) and has been gathered over endless amounts of time from all sorts of walks of life and universes. Many are outcasts of their society, Rohians who need Purpose, rebels and rapscallions, outcast gods and deities, or followers of Myârath who have been given orders to serve Ladyette as their lifeâs Purpose. They are loyal to the death and will defend Ladyette from everyone - even her own spouses if necessary - and are very protective over Aauya due to knowing the shipâs very important (though not truly why it is). Mutiny has only happened once among the ship, and it led to the culling of many Abrayarmaa and Linduru supporters and the eradication of a good chunk of the crew. Since then, mutiny has not happened due to Aauya being more careful about who she allows to board her. IF YOU ARE NOT GIVEN ENTRY BY THE SHIP, YOU ARE NOT FIT TO BE IN THE CREW. Thatâs that. The ultimate test one must pass, even if Ladyette likes you. Fail it, and you will be left behind without remorse.
There is a graveyard located within Aauyaâs ribs where she carries the dead who have passed on in their service to Ladyette, as well as many members of Ladyâs ever expanding friends and family. Whether they died in battle or of old age, it does not matter; they are given proper rest there and allowed a peaceful afterlife among the Chaos Realm that Myârath has crafted himself. Ladyetteâs four children are buried there, all who have died of either old age or of job-related reasons. They are given their own section of the graveyard beneath a withered old tree that occasionally blossoms as an act of comfort from their deceased souls to the parents who have long since outlived them.
Several of Ladyetteâs past spouses also lie within the graveyard within Aauyaâs belly, however they reside within tombs that have long since been sealed and inaccessible in respect for both their deaths and their memories. Some were gods/deities, other Forces/Guardians, others mortal. All are paid respect and revered by some of the crew who seek their guidance in the afterlife Myârath has set up for them. Some even gain godhood post-mortem due to the mythology and reverence the current living crew carries for them. Itâs a fascinating phenomena, in any case.
The Hora Clepta crew (Ladyâs crew) is one of the smaller of the four crews in the Pyramid, with Dumplingâs massive fleet that spans universes being the largest and Namesâ single frigateâs worth of crew being the smallest. Her crew is moderate in size and large enough to man Aauya, but is not all-expansive like the Fearmongerâs or Dumplingâs. She has only a couple other ships that are a part of her âfleet,â with a couple of them having been lost to time itself due to the terrible wars the universe has waged on the Pyramid for their crimes against it. The only survivors remain on the Aauya to this day, although rumor has it there may be a couple of replicas of her original fleet out and about in the dead Boards of past Games, still manned by those who have not seen their Captain in eons but still believe in her and believe sheâll save them all one day.
Ladyette is known as Captain Rungaroven across all Boards of the Game and is almost celebrity status with her infamy. Sheâs often feared as the BEAST WITH A GHOST FLEET, or as the MONSTER WITHOUT A HEART. Despite these titles, most of her piracy revolves around destroying corrupt government entities and causing wars within systems that no longer work in hopes of bringing forth revolutionaries to fix their worlds. The Universe has assigned her the job of WAR MONGREL like her spouses for this reason, and she acts as the Voice of Reason among the Fearmongerâs Voice of Violence, Namesâ Voice of Hope, and Dumplings Voice of Discord. Aauya assists Ladyette as being the Voice of Reason, however sheâs not always very good at it since she is full of Ladyetteâs impulsive nature.
Aauya can always travel with Ladyette due to the fact she can shrink down and turn into a ârealâ dragon, however she rarely does so by order of Ladyette, as doing so affect also affects her crew (by turning them into the ârealâ dragonâs organs) and Lady does not want her crew to suffer through that. Instead, Aauya has learned how to sever her scales and turn them into dragons/a large dragon instead and sends that with Ladyette instead. Her scales are worth fortunes a piece and have been occasionally sought after by poachers, pillagers, and demon hunters, however each scale also curses those who steal them. Those who do often go mad due to something threatening following them for the rest of their lives - at least until they return the scale directly who Lady, who often then severs their head as recompense.
Lady is hardly seen without a small dragon at her side/on her shoulder, nor is she hardly ever seen without her Familiar (a horse beast) or the guardian familiars FM and Ling made for her (Jeff the space frog and Sarabi the white panther, respectively).
