Hugh Dunnett: medium brown skin tone with dark hair and eyes. Is mixed race, part of why he's so intense and jaded is from getting used to grating "you're mixed? how exotic" comments and nosy personal questions. Medium-to-athletic build. He's like Iwaizumi from Haikyuu!! but calmer and with brain cells. Wears a lot of neutrals, esp cool tones. Obviously he's in a long grey trench with the collar turned up and a stupid hat that he takes off once he's inside, thank god. Under the coat he's got a turtleneck and .... idk would he wear jeans? Slacks, maybe? My guess is he's aroace (if you try to make moves on anyone the parser simply tells you "keep your head in the game" or something to that effect so as far as I'm concerned aroace Hugh is canon)

Benedict "Benny" Lamb: um obviously a stuck up plat blond white guy with his pale grey eyes, fuck off, they even "flash" when he's angry. He's got a real *smirks to keep from crying* vibe, especially about his sister Elle. Collared shirt + sweater is his uniform, he has like 15 sweaters (fancy cashmere, obvi) but insists on wearing his favorite teal one constantly. It goes nicely with his emerald green overcoat (that's canon). Is "above" drinking. Total nerd for literary theory and miscellaneous trivia. Hates Alex in a real bisexual way. 

Elinor "Elle" Lamb: sweet golden blond white lady, blue-eyed. MEGA Ophelia vibes: loose shoulder-length hair with face-framing bits, maybe a half-up 'do? Quirky in a quiet way. Likes gold accents (y'know those collar-chain decorations?? She'd have those. Music note shaped? Arrows?). Tired of but still deeply cares for her brother. Frequently falls asleep at the piano. Wears.......powder blue? I like her in a collared shirt with ... white skinny jeans?? And of course her dark plum waist-length Burberry jacket. Canonically a wheelchair user. Generally in poor health overall, her body’s just not having any of this. Has stopped trying to hide how sick she is bc her time's better spent creating as much as she can. Never been romantically involved, very much married to her music. Aroace??? Holy shit!!!!!

Deborah "Debbie" Wolf: Curly caramel-brown hair that falls to her shoulders, usually has it up in a loose ponytail or bun. Alternatively: braids that ombre from dark brown to caramel. Game says clear blue eyes, I say chestnut brown. Either wears power suits or a stylish cable knit sweater + highlow midi skirt situation. Warm fall colors suit her well, reds and burnt oranges and golds and browns. Her tan trench does indeed go with everything. Totally has tortoiseshell (game says steel-rimmed, I say WRONG) glasses, like omg. Librarian with a murky past vibes. Voted most likely to be a fae/shapeshifter/otherwise immortal being cloaking themself in human form. Her vibe is smart and understated. Saves her BAMF energy for when she needs it. Alex knows.

Alexander "Alex" Wolf: Dark messy hair, clay-colored skin, dark eyes, scruff. I imagine he's been in several physical altercations so let's give him an eyebrow scar. Big "you're angry but why are you angry??" vibes (yep from that hysterical and true Nathan Zed vid). Buffer than necessary, loves his wife, has a grudging crush on Benny. Much worse at doing real human interaction than he is at scripting it. Is smart enough to back off when Deb suggests he should. Total flannel guy. Scuffed leather jacket + black T + grubby ripped dark wash jeans. Has dumb writing rituals he swears by, like not wearing socks ever. Birkenstocks. 

Cedric "Ceddie" Crane: ugh what a douchebag <3 ok--slimeball salesman energy. He's in a chocolate three piece suit, duh, but like he doesn't even commit to the look—no tie, his blazer hangs off his shoulders. Thinks he's hot shit. Considers flirting with Dunnett, decides against it. Red hair and green eyes bc the flavor text said so, but I'll add a goatee and make that hair curly/wavy. High alcohol tolerance. Hates animals. Basically, Brian David Gilbert from Polygon except awful.

Chief Inspector Duffy (are we counting him???): Idk he's like 63 and ready to be done with this noise. Wears a dumb hat all the time. Has a brick red corduroy jacket. Always holding a thermos of either whiskey or coffee. Wants to live in a lighthouse once he retires (has always liked sailing, knows how to read tidetables n jazz). His husband works from home maintaining an etsy shop full of Dr. Who sculpy clay miniatures (he does commissions too) and is the smart one in this relationship.
