Alright. Here’s my view and based on my own experiences. 

Growing up in a christian household, my mother banned me from seeing anything Harry Potter. When I went to my friend’s birthday party, the second harry potter movie came out on dvd and they had it playing on the living room tv. I told my friend I would get in trouble if i was to watch it...but she convinced me.  My mother came in the room, and she BLEW up. She berated me in front of all my friends at the party and spanked me and made me cry. 

Fast forward to a few years back, my mother allowed my younger sisters to not only watch harry potter, but supernatural, ghost shows, horror movies, anything really. I was like, “dude. wtf?!” My mom said she didn’t care and knew that my sisters knew that this was all fake.

As for your ask, I don’t feel like magic in fantasy games and shows or anything whimsical like that is harmful on its own. Just the same as violent videogames doesn’t make kids violent or want to commit real life crimes. I feel like magic in games is purely fiction, and that it should be treated as such. If, however, one is struggling with the occult in real life, they should try to minimize what they expose themselves to. 

I’ve had like the story above, another time in my life where my roommates convinced me that playing THE SIMS 4 and THE SIMS 3 was evil and causing demons to visit me at night. I was terribly inundated with fear and irrational views of God. I felt like if I even wanted to play the sims that God was gonna allow a bunch of hell spawns to invade my life and hurt me. This is obviously a horrible lie of the enemy and based out of religious legalism than from a place of love and warning. I of course, overcame this fear after realizing that WE CAN CHOOSE WHAT TO GIVE POWER IN OUR LIVES. if you’re scared of clowns and it deeply upsets u to see a clown, of course don’t watch any movies or anything that will make u have fear in ur heart. For me, I don’t go near aliens. That’s my scary thing. 

Basically, don’t give fantasy any more attention than it needs. Demons and magic and witchcraft are all real. We should be aware of these things, but not fear them. We, as followers of Christ, know whose side we are on, and we know who is more powerful. We should not give evil more attention than it deserves, but we should be armed and ready to handle these things at any given moment. 

I’ve had experiences with wiccans and witchcraft. I’ve had legit demonic experiences happen to me. I’ve also had fake scares and such like the stories mentioned above. The thing about the supernatural in this world is to know that evil exists, God exists, and that Perfect Love casts out all Fear. 

I’ll end it on this. I know people are drawn to witchcraft and the spiritual because of its power and mysticism. The supernatural is not a bad thing, nor is the interest in it a bad thing. However, many people fall into the trap of following false gods or demon worship instead of going towards God. God is supernatural.
