To be honest when I first saw Aaune's true form in the Ultimate Guide to Chaotic book (paraphrasing The title of the book here) I honestly was confounded. Like what in the world were the artists thinking in finalizing his final form like That?
Even for a series with characters with VAs from Dragon Ball, Aa’une’s forms are a lot. I’m not a character designer, but I would say perhaps his True Form looks like that to separate any idea of him as a “person” from the “he’s the big bad guy, no remorse when the fellas destroy him,” since with that design there’s no longer a “man’s” face and instead a tentacle pillar with teeth.Â
Unless you’re talking about the Avatar form, since I had a look and don’t see the True form in the Ultimate Guide? I don’t mind the look of that one. Huge glow-y tendrilled centaur.
The M'arrillians: The most underrated tribe in Perim
Ever since Chaotic: M'arrillian Invasion, the M'arrillians showed how much of a power house they are. Their mind powers could bring armies to their knees. Thanks to the cellular animation, they not only become terrifying through power but also in appearance. The only weakness I think they have is that they are pretty arrogant. They're practically alien in their world. Their leader, Aa'une is wickedly smart. He used the Marsh of Murk as a decoy to leave Underworld city defenseless and trick Maxxor and Chaor to bring him to Lake Blakeer where he's the strongest.
After Aa'une's defeat...they kinda lost their spotlight. In season 3 we'd get a few tidbits of them, but not a whole lot of fleshing out. It's a bummer because it would've been cool to learn their way of life as well as explore the varying personalities of this tribe aside from being power hungry (Ab'lop being the only exception). The only thing we do know is that they are in the middle of figuring out who'd be the next Oligarch.
