The orientation of the centripetal acceleration affects the strength of Coriolis, which causes the winds to be faster or slower than geostrophic in curved regions.
The result: upper level divergence (= upward motion) and convergence (=downward motion) at the inflection points in between!

My grandparents bought this piano for my mom in 1961. It sat in my grandma’s house, likely in the same spot, until I brought it to Brooklyn a few years ago. I don’t think it had ever been tuned and drifted flat across the board, some keys much worse than others.
