Scanning A3 Documents with A4 Scanners!

When it comes to scanning a standard letter size or A4 size paper, the process is quite simple. Almost every scanner is designed to handle consumer-grade paper easily. If you wish, even legal-sized paper can be digitally imprinted to your computer. But when we talk about A3 documents, most businesses face an issue in digitising them. A3 scanners are kind of a big and expensive investment, and not many small or home-based businesses are comfortable enough to purchase them. So what can be the solution here?
Scanning a large oversized document in a single pass using a normal scanner is difficult, but not impossible. One of the best and creative methods to digitise A3 documents is to use the folio function, available in selected Canon scanners. With the help of Folio scan, documents that are of A3 size that does not fit in the feeder can be easily scanned. When the folio function is enabled, the document should be folded in half and placed into the feeder. A high-quality scanner will then scan both sides and combine the images into a single one.      Â
Here are the steps on how to obtain A3 documents using the folio function:
Step 1 Open the driver setting screen of A4 scanner
Step 2 Set the page size to half of the paper that is to be actually scanned and set the scanning side to the folio scan.
Step 3 Set the feeding option on the tab to the manual setting. Close the screen after changing the setting.
Step 4 Fold the document in half and crease it firmly down its centre. Ensure that the edges are neatly aligned. If not folded properly, distortions can ruin the combined scanned image.
Step 5 Place the document with the folded edge facing right and adjust the document guide to fit the width. This will ensure your image is not skewed or shifted.  Â
