MY AFTERNOONS
AUGUST 15, XX
Homare called me early in the morning to read to me his poems he made throughout the night, I got worried that he didn’t got any sleep, but he’s always like this, except for the call, it’s a first that he was the first one to start in calling me. He said he wants to meet in a coffee shop that we usually go to.
After a minute walk there, I saw Homare sitting in the corner, writing and solemnly smiling. I have never seen him smile like that. It caught me by surprise.. I wonder what drives him, being so passionate every day.
I was in front of him, but he didn’t notice me as he was too occupied, so I took a photo of him.
After I got a photo of him, he finally noticed me, he gestured for me to sit by pulling the chair like a butler would do and tells me he’ll order in our stead. He is a proper gentleman, alright. I couldn’t help but look at him over the counter. I also noticed that he didn’t ask for my coffee, hoping that he ordered was something good.
As we placed the orders on the table, I got surprised and looked at him as he knew exactly what I wanted. He just looked and smiled at me for a minute. He must have noticed and noted it all. He knew my order by heart and I’m flattered. I asked him what drives him so passionate recently and his answer was “Tu, you changed me, thank you and te amo.”. I paused for a minute, then smiled at him. “te quoque amo.” I said back to him softly, looking at him. It must have been tough, the things he had gone through. But I’m here for him now. I listened to him the entire afternoon reciting his poems while savoring our food and beverages. I would not mind afternoons like this with him.
It’s nice to see him moving forward, and I will move forward as well... in indignatione mea. :)
