Ice/Elation (haha, shut up) makes a lot of sense for Pearl. Ice tends to denote a yearning for the past (usually with a want to bring it into the future), and Elation is typically a yearning for hidden knowledge!
Pearl is an Intellatron made to try and understand art, something famously hard for robots to do. So naturally her yearning bleeds into her governing of Planarcdia, a planet where art can literally come to life.
Though, she struggles with imagenesis, the process that turns art into imaginae. That’s because imagenesis needs you to suspend your disbelief. (“Don’t think, feel~”, as the Trailblazer puts it). As a being that runs on logic, that’s near impossible.
Hence her yearning to understand Graphia, the Mother of imagenesis, the most renowned painter of the Cindereth Age, and of Planarcadia’s entire history.
From the last update, she’s soon gunna be able to actually meet Graphia!! That’ll be cool. I suspect they’ll be a cool story sequence where Pearl learns how to restore the World in Canvas with the help of her Cornerstone or something. That’ll be rad! (Hence bringing the past into the future!!)
