hey so i know you mentioned before that you played quidditch. When did you play? Since it's such a "new game" the IQA is changing and adapting rules and everything it's interesting to see the differences where you write it and what i played 7 years ago (there have only been a couple of instances i noticed earlier on in the fic, i just think it's interesting!)
Hooboy, okay, I actually had to take a hot minute and think about this bc years all kinda blend together after college lol
I started my junior year of college, so that was... spring of 2011. That first semester there were only seven of us, and it was kinda just us dicking around a lot. The next year we started to actually organize a team. By the next year (I was in college for five years), we actually had a pretty competitive team (at the time and in our young region anyway). That year I actually went to play at World Cup VI with a community team of a bunch of people from college teams in my state. After graduating, I played on that community team for two more years.Â
So... I started quidditch seven years ago, in the super early years, back when a lot of the rules were janky but fun. And I stopped playing about three years ago, when the rules had already changed and adapted and the game had become far more competitive and sport-like.Â
The rules are still changing, but I’m not up-to-date with the current rulebook. I write the rules as I remember them when I last played three years ago, and with small bits of info I get from friends who still play ((we started together and she played at the most recent World Cup, I’m so proud))
So yeah! I played for four years and saw the rules and the game change drastically in that time. I imagine one of the biggest differences you’ve noticed from now and when you played are the snitch rules, because those changed drastically.
