Spring’s Coming

It was midnight in this world, and all of the buildings in the Capitol were dark. The only light came from the lanterns that were hung every so many feet. Euphie was wandering aimlessly, just taking in the quiet of the sleeping city. All of the stores were closed and she didn’t quite feel like going back to the hotel just yet. There was just something about being somewhere that was supposed to be loud and crowded while it was silent and empty that was so strangely peaceful. She loved the feeling.
After awhile, she wandered out of the main shopping district and onto a residential street. All of the windows were dark, but some of the houses still sported lights and decorations left over from Giftmas. She was so enraptured in the quiet and the lights that she didn’t notice the small figure sitting outside of the darkest house.
