You knew that there would be consequences. But you couldn’t stay away. You couldn’t stay away from his smile, his easy going personality, and the fact that he was off limits. Your parents telling you to stay away from Park Jimin only made him more enticing. He would always be that extra serving that you shouldn’t take, but took anyways. He was the cherry on top.
You opened the window, the cool night air crept through the window. You hoped that your parents couldn’t hear the howling of it as out escaped the warm confines of your room. Out you went. With the window shut behind you, you were free. Your slippers fell silently onto the grassy ground beneath you. You were headed to the fountain. It was located in the garden, where most of your meetings happened. It was almost exactly between your two houses. A perfect meeting place. The only thing accompanying you to the garden were your footsteps and the late night crickets. It felt as if they were walking with you. As you arrived at the bench in front of the fountain you found yourself shrugging your shawl closer around you. You sat under the stony figure that adorned the water display, her stony eyes warily watching for any intruders.
You hadn’t waited long when you heard a soft whisper of your name.
“Jimin?” You questioned into the musty air. You moved your head back and forth looking for him in the dark. His warm hand on your shoulder made you jump.
“HI,” he said with a smile. You two never really said much at these late night meetings, a lot of them included just enjoying each other’s company. He sat down next to you and turned to pull you into chis chest.
His warmth was much appreciated in the cool spring air. He wrapped his arms securely around you and it wasn’t long until your eyes fell closed.
The sun. It was the first thing you noticed when your eyes fluttered open. Then you saw them. First it was your parents, then it was his. They were upset, you could tell that much, and you knew that you were in deep. Your parents had told you time and time again to stay away from Park Jimin, but you couldn’t help but seek him out. He was the forbidden fruit and your parents were the serpent telling you yes.
You tried to negotiate, you pleaded and begged but nothing worked on them. They were adamant about you never seeing him again. He was gone. Forever. You saw him walk away shoulder slouched, and you knew that both your parents would prevent either of you from meeting again. Your dad put his hand on your shoulder and turned you around. And through the corner of your eye, you saw the old statue begin to crack.
