"be careful! don't forget to call!"

Roy was always someone who’d tell Hanna to be careful and make sure to call him once she got back home, to let him know she had arrived safely without anything having happened in the meantime. It was a gesture she appreciated, feeling like he was a good friend to ask for her wellbeing despite the distance that was put in betweem them. Most of her friends just went ahead and assumed she was doing fine, but to know that he was worried enough to ask her to at the very least give him a call was unexpectedly reassuring for the younger female. It made her feel appreciated as both a friend and a person, and that was a nice feeling for someone who was capable of getting insecure way too easily.
❝I’m almost home, but it’s already so dark and I feel a bit, ah paranoid, is it? Just talk to me, before I’m going to have hallucinations and think someone’s following me.❞ The cell phone tightly clutched in her hand, Hanna did indeed feel somewhat creeped out by the uncomfortable atmosphere the darkness was unintentionally creating. And while she didn’t live in a neighbourhood that would be considered as unsafe, Hanna wasn’t the type of person to take risks either hence the nervosity in her voice when she spoke up after the male had accepted her call.
Perhaps, in that moment it was easiest to see just how much of a little girl she still was inside, being scared of what lurked in the darkness. But really, could anyone blame her for that, considering how easy it was for unwanted things to happen in the embrace of the night? Hanna shuddered at the thought. She shouldn’t be thinking about such things.
❝Were you waiting for my call? I’m not disturbing, am I? Because if I am, then you can hang up, you know I am not too far away from home anyway, I should be there in a few minutes. I’m just a little, ahem, scared. That’s all.❞
