#90 fire

Burned mesquite thicket, remnant of the 90 Fire in July, 2020. The fire (named for the adjacent state highway and bridge) burned over 200 acres along the riparian corridor.

90 Fire: Charred bunchgrass and creosote from a grassland wildfire on July 12. The fire was not hot enough to destroy the bunchgrass roots, and each clump is already sending out green shoots just a week after the fire. 

The 90 Fire began on July 12, 2020, near the San Pedro River in Cochise County, southern Arizona. 

The fire burned more than 200 acres, although it was quickly contained.  Fatchance took some great photos of the area a week after the fire, on July 19. 

These scenes are from late September.  The recovery of the area would have been more pronounced if the monsoon had brought more rain.  Still, you can see some wildflowers and new growth starting to take hold.
