I get that this may be a strange first post for a blog like this, but since I recently watched the show I thought I’d talk about it.

So 8 Tage (8 Days) is a german mini-series licensed by sky. 

The asteroid Horus is flying towards earth and will hit central europe in 8 Days. A rocket mission with the intention to prevent the impending doom failed and so the protagonists of the show have to decide how they handle the situation. There are various storylines throughout the shows 8 episodes. People who try to safe their loved ones (themselves?), people trying to cope with the situation by partying or praying and people who just try to make peace with their past.

I’m usually not into german production since they just seem dull to me. But this one really shines.

The soundtrack is on point. Grim tunes for the very grim tone of the show. You can feel the impending doom in almost every scene. You feel the characters panic, their despair and their sadness as the situation gets more and more out of hand. It just feels like all this could really happen some day and it makes you think about yourself and what you’d do in that situation.

The ending really devastated me. How could that awful person do this after all they went through? (Not revealing any details here) That’s the kinda thing that devastates me for days since I’m very emotional about it. But it really underlines the weight of the whole thing. 

If you like that kind of stuff I recommend that you give it a shot. I only found the german version but it got an official english title so I assume that it’ll be dubbed for international audiences eventually.
