Ryuko had been dying to see this movie, but now that she was in the theater, Mako sitting beside her, it was the last thing she could focus on.

Mako had worn the cutest little sundress on their modest date -a light, sky shade of blue with a unique cloud pattern that went down to her knees and hugged her waist, paired with a plain set of beige flip flops. She was the picture of adorable, in fact, Ryuko had blushed upon first seeing her that afternoon.

As she sat next to her now, she could smell her perfume, the perfume she always wore, the scent Ryuko often indulged her lungs in, reveling in how Mako it smelled; light and airy, yet resoundingly sweet. 

Mako was paying attention to the movie, mindlessly putting popcorn into her mouth. She giggled at something that happened onscreen, and Ryuko's heart fluttered. 

She could feel herself begin to sweat a little, even in the chillness that was the theater auditorium. She glanced down between where they were sitting together to see Mako's arm resting there, her hand wrapped around the end of the cushion. She wanted to grab it, to hold it in hers, maybe caress her thumb with her own. It wasn't as if they hadn't held hands before, yet still it was so...oh no, Ryuko's face was heating up again.

"Ryuko-chan?" Mako spoke, looking towards her girlfriend in the dim light the movie projected. Ryuko shook her head out of her trance. "Are you sick? You shouldn't have come out tonight if you were ill, you'll get everyone else sick, too!"

"No, I'm fine, promise! Let's just watch the movie, alright?" She appeased, smiling a somewhat goofy grin. Mako gave her a concerned look, her eyebrows raised, but nonetheless turned her attention back to the screen.

Once Mako's eyes were averted once again, Ryuko focused her attention back to the girl's hand. It was almost as though it was just sitting there, waiting to be held.

It just then occurred to Ryuko that maybe, it was. She glanced back up to Mako's face again to see her watching the movie intently, and then back down to her hand again to see her fingers lightly drumming against the the cushion. Ah.

With the mission clear, Ryuko took her own hand from her lap and moved it to the edge of her own seat cushion. Step one complete. 

Slowly, she moved her hand closer to hers, centimeter by centimeter, fingers crawling nearer. 

A moment before she was finally about to make contact, Mako abruptly snatched Ryuko's hand into her own. Ryuko was startled.
