Beer of New Zealand

A bottle off the shelf, a National Brewery Centre purchase enjoyed at home in the evening.

They say: At 5.5% the body is appropriately thin and the flavour is choc-full of chocolate, caramel, nutty, sweetness that gives way to the bitterness of the coffee and lingers like a delicious cold brew.

I say: Poured pitch black in colour, medium tan head. An aroma of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate, only hints of vanilla. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again roast malts and distinct coffee. some dark chocolate, hints of vanilla and lactose, moderate hops. Too heavy on the coffee notes for my taste.
