What does human rights mean to you? #7billionproject #humanrights
The Project
Hello!
I am a law student who is studying Human Rights Law. I have an assignment coming, a reflective piece on international human rights, and was looking for some help.Â
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a politically stable country. I grew up in a statistically average family (2 parents, 2 children, dog, middle income) in the suburbs. My parents gave me every opportunity they could and encouraged me to be anything I wanted to be. My view of human rights is idealistic, based on a relatively sheltered upbringing. Most of what I know about human rights, I learnt through reading, or watching television. Â Â
My belief is that what constitutes human rights is subjective, and is shaped by the world around you. For a person who has lived through war, the right to life or liberty may be more important than the right to work or education. Someone who faces racial or sexual discrimination on a daily basis may focus more on freedom from discrimination when discussing human rights, rather than the right to health.
The aim of this project is simple. I want to develop a global story depicting what human rights means to different people. Â
If you could spare a couple of minutes of your time and help me out, I would appreciate it.Â
All I want is a sentence or two, no more, stating what human rights means to you. Please include your age, gender and country. Feel free to include a picture. Make sure anything you submit is your own work, thought or idea.Â
Thank you!
Kelly
